GENERAL INFORMATION REGARDING TRACK MEETS AT BENSON:
1.
MSHSL rules regarding track meets will be followed.
2.
Athletes must use 1/4 inch or shorter pyramid spikes when running on the track, long jump or high jump runways. Spikeless
running shoes are also acceptable. Athletes not adhering to the above will be disqualified.
3.
Shot Put and Discus circles are cement.
4.
Starting blocks are furnished. They are allowed to be held by someone in the sprint or dash races.
5.
Athletes should stay away from the high jump, long jump, and finish line areas if they are not competing.
6.
Athletes not competing must stay off the track until all runners are finished with each race.
7.
The Meet Manager will be the final judge on all problems that occur.
8.
Under no circumstances is the Shot Put or Discus to be thrown while in the infield area.
9.
No tents, shelters or camps are allowed on the infield. Camp outside the stadium fence line north of the concessions building, but
south of the discus area. Only participating athletes are allowed on the infield. Athletes warming up on the infield are
requested to drop to their knee during races so as not to obstruct the view of the timers and flag judges.
10. Spectators are not allowed on the track and infield areas.
11. Our track is located behind the Senior High School building. Buses can unload on the street immediately east of the track but buses
should park in the parking lot on the south side (in front) of the school. Athletes can enter the track through the gates on the
south and west sides.
12. NO ONE should ever jump over the fence. There are gates that should be used at all times when entering and exiting the track
and field event areas.
13. There are portable toilets and a concessions stand on site.
