About US
The IDB Diversity Group is a group of volunteers dedicated to promoting all aspects
of diversity awareness and efforts for recognizing, valuing and working effectively
with a diverse staff in the Bank. The Group is open to all interested Bank staff.
Mission Statement: The Group seeks to promote an environment in the Bank where
racial and cultural diversity is accepted and celebrated. Towards this end, the Group
works to educate, sensitize, and build bridges among staff. The main focus at present
is to increase the recruitment of indigenous and Afro-Latino staff so as to better
represent the diverse population of Latin America as a whole and to help the Bank
more effectively meet its objectives of poverty reduction and promotion of social
equity, since these two segments of the population are the poorest.
What does the Group do? The Group is supported by the Office of the Executive Vice
President and meets with Bank management to advocate for greater recruitment of
ethnic minorities and an increased number of operations that target disadvantaged
racial and ethic minority communities in the region. In addition to its annual awards
ceremony, it also organizes lectures and cultural events to promote the sharing of
knowledge, celebrate our cultural heritage and highlight the contributions of ethnic
minorities in the region.
