Listen and read. Around us - Animals
Some animals, like lions, eagles and
crocodiles, only eat meat. These animals
are called ‘carnivores’.
The Serengeti National Park is a very
important animal reserve in Tanzania.
Lots of different animals live there, like
elephants, lions and hippos. Thousands
of zebras cross the Serengeti every year.
Lots of buffaloes live in its savannah.
There are also cheetahs, which are big
cats with long, thin legs. There are lots of
birds too, like eagles, vultures, ostriches
and flamingos. The flamingos are very
beautiful but the vultures are ugly!
Some animals, like buffaloes, zebras and
rhinos, only eat plants. These animals are
called ‘herbivores’.
Some animals, like bears, chickens and
pigs, eat plants and animals. These
animals are called ‘omnivores’. Human
beings are omnivores, too.
Longleat Safari Park
Longleat is a very big safari park near Salisbury in
England. It’s fantastic because you can go through
the safari park by car.
You can see savannah animals: giraffes, lions,
zebras and rhinos. You can also see tigers, wolves
and camels.
You can go on safari boats and see hippos and
gorillas too. You can also visit Longleat House and
many other attractions, or you can have a picnic.
