Veterans Day Song Sheet - Mercer Island School District

SONGS FOR VETERANS DAY CHOIR 2015
The Star Spangled Banner
Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming!
!And the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave,
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
America, The Beautiful
O beautiful, for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties, above the fruited plain.
America! America! God shed his grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea.
America
My country 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing.
Land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrims' pride,
From every mountainside, let freedom ring.
You’re A Grand Old Flag
You're a grand old flag; you're a highflying flag,
And forever in peace may you wave.
You're the emblem of the land I love,
The home of the free and the brave!
Every heart beats true for the red, white and blue,
Where there's never a boast or brag.
But, should auld acquaintance be forgot,
Keep your eye on the grand old flag!
This Land is Your Land
Chorus: This land is your land, this land is my land,
from California to the New York Island,
From the redwood forest, to the gulf stream waters.
This land was made for you and me.
As I was walking that ribbon of highway,
I saw above me that endless skyway.
America, America
I saw below me that golden valley.
America! America!
This land was made for you and me.
Shall I tell you how we feel?
Chorus
You have given us your beauty,
I've roamed and rambled and followed my foot steps,
We love you so.
to the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts,
and all around me a voice was sounding,
This land was made for you and me.

And today these rules still stand. They say:
We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union,
Establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility,
Provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare,
And secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity,
Do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

We believe in liberty, democracy, the will of the majority.
Congress makes the laws, our courts interpret laws,
The executive branch leads and enforces the laws.
The creation of a nation with states’ cooperation needs our participation so that
We the people keep the land we love, because
We the people are America!

We Will Stand As One
VERSE 1
CHORUS
Solo 1:
Solo 2:
This world is big and I am small, sometimes I feel alone.
But I see the friends I have around me, this place is my home.
Diversity with unity, we are all proud,
Of who we are, what we can be, let’s sing it out loud.
I celebrate this place and I’m singing this song, for the whole human race.
We’re all part of this world, every woman and man, every boy every girl,
And we will stand as one.
Sometimes it’s hard, sometimes I’m scared, but inside I know,
Everyone here cares about me, and helps me to grow.
With pride in our community, with love in our hearts,
Peace and joy in every land, with me it starts.
