Off-campus: A drive-up ATM (also NBT Bank) is located outside of Tractor Supply Company (in the

DRIVER LICENSE
Please refer to the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles for information and application form for a
driver license in the state (www.dmv.ny.gov). New York State requires new residents to have NY state
licenses within 30 days of establishing state residency. New York State also has an enhanced driver license
option, which allows the holder to use it at selected border crossings. An additional charge will be assessed
for the enhanced license beyond the fees for a regular one. More information is available on the website.

GROCERS AND LIQUOR
Groceries and food goods can be purchased in town Hamilton Whole Foods (28 Broad Street; 315-8242930), Price Chopper (1050 Madison Market Place; 315-824-6040), and Byrne Dairy (31 Utica Street; 315824-1107). Right in town, there are two liquor stores: Village Wine & Spirits (27 Lebanon Street; 315-8241740) and Cook’s Liquor Store (53 Utica Street; 315-824-2260). Many in the community also venture to
DeWitt/Fayetteville (outside of Syracuse), where Wegmans is located (6789 East Genesee Street; 315-4461180) – a “Whole Food”-type supermarket with fresh produce, organic items, prepared foods, kosher deli,
and much much, more.
On Saturdays from May to November of each year, the Village of Hamilton hosts an open-air Farmer’s
Market on the village green. Vendors sell local organic produce, meats and cheeses, jams and jellies, honey,
butter, baked goods and hand-made crafts - just to name a few. This is a great place to meet local folks as well
as friends and colleagues.
Syracuse and Utica are the two larger cities within 30 or so miles from Hamilton. In these cities and around
the region, there are a number of ethnic markets offering specialty products. Depending on weather and
traffic condition, the drive to Syracuse and Utica could take about an hour each way, and a number of
interesting places can be found in between as well.

The Madison County DMV Office, located within the County Courthouse on North Court Street in
Wampsville, NY (315-366-2251) is the location for vehicle registration. Another location near Hamilton is in
Chenango County; the DMV there is located on 5 Court Street in Norwich (607-337-1460). A number of
items are needed as part of the process to register vehicles in the state. New York law requires new residents
