CONTROL
AllInflatablesshouldbeanchored/peggeddownduringuseatalltimes.
Useallavailableanchorpointsonthebouncycastle.Attimeswhenthe
windisasignificanthazard,thentheactivityshouldcease.(see
manufacturersguidelinesforrecommendedlimits)
Allbouncycastlesmustbevisuallycheckedpriortoeachusetocheckfor
defectsorfaults.Ifthereareanyconcerns,theactivitymustnotcontinue
untiltheissuehasbeenadequatelyfixed.Thismaymeancancellingthe
eventisthefaulthasthepotentialtocauseharmtousers.Removeshoes
andallsharpobjectsfromuserspriortouse.
Bouncycastlemustbelocatedonflatgroundawayfromhotobjects(fires
/BBQ’s),powerlines,stones,gravel,brokenglassoroverhangingtrees.
AllbouncyCastles&otherinflatableequipmentshouldbechecked
annuallyinlinewithPIPAtestrecommendations(www.pipa.org.uk).
Failuretoundertakeandrecordchecksonequipmentcouldleadto
failure.
Allinstructorsmusthavereceivedtrainingontheset-upanduseofthe
bouncycastle.Thebouncycastlemustbesetupinaccordancewiththe
instructionmanual,andnotadaptedinanywayinwhichtoadd
additionalrisktotheactivity.
Dieselgeneratorsmustbetested&servicedeachyear.Staffmustbe
trainedintheuseofthegenerator.Dieselgeneratorsareonlytobeused
inoutsidevenueswhichallownaturalventilationofanyfumes.Generator
&blowermustbelocatedatleast1.2mawayfromtheinflatable.

andplugpriortouseforanyobvioussignsofdamage,anddonotuseif
damaged.Onlyuseinside,oroutsideindryconditions.UseanRCDfor
protection.
Tobemannedbytrainedstaffatalltimes.Maximumof10peopleonthe
bouncycastleatanyonetime.Rulestobeclearlypolicedbystaff,and
usersasktoleaveifthesearenotbeingfollowed.Donotallowlarger
childrenoradultstoendangersmallerchildren.
Coveranytrailingwireswithwirecovers.Agreeasaferouteforwiring
priortouseatlargeeventsorfetes.Donotblockanyemergencyaccess
routesorfireexits.Surroundingmatsshouldbeprovidedattheentrance
tothebouncycastle,andthesemustbeingoodcondition.
Ifthebouncycastlemustbeleftunsupervisedatall,thenitmustbe
deflated,andleftinawaythatitcannotbeturnedonbyanyoneelse.
Thebouncycastleisheavy,andwillrequireamechanicalaidora2man
lifttomovefromthevantothelocationofuse.DOnotattempttomove
anyheavyobjectsistheyarebeyondyourpersonallimits.Allstaffshould
receivemanualhandlingtrainingonanannualbasis.
