What is a CITP?
A CITP is a highly qualified international trade practitioner who has met rigorous criteria related to

The CITP designation is registered under section 9 of the Canadian Trademarks Act with the
Registrar of Trademarks as an official trademark of FITT. Certified members of FITT can use the
designation, in the form of CITP (e.g. Jane Doe, CITP), the French translation would be PACI.
Note that FITT's professional designation in the U.S. and E.U. is FIBP - FITT International
Business Professional. For detailed information, please visit www.fitt.ca/fibp.
Why Would Your Students Want to Become a CITP?
If your students aspire to or already work in international trade, the CITP designation is for them.
As a CITP, they will be recognized by employers, colleagues, and clients as a professional whose
competencies in international trade are of the highest standard, and they will have the credential
to prove it. They will have knowledge and skills that will provide them with a personal competitive
advantage in international markets and in their place of work.

FAQ'S
How does an individual request the transfer of credits?
The individual must complete the "Application for FITTskills Credit" which can be downloaded
from www.fitt.ca. There is an administration fee of $75.00 per request - not per credit. An official
transcript from the accredited institution must be provided to FITT with the application form and
payment prior to FITT granting the credit(s). An official FITT transcript will be issued showing the
credit transfer and the equivalences.
Does a student have to request all eight credits?
A student may request up to eight credits. This is determined by how many credits are approved
as equivalent to FITTskills in the accredited program .
How does a graduate, who has transferred eight credits, meet the educational
requirement?
A graduate who is granted all eight FITTskills credits must complete FITT's Professional
Examination . Once this is successfully completed , the educational portion of the CITP
designation criteria has been met. The Professional Examination cannot be written until the
credits have been transferred .
What if an institution that has completed the Program Evaluation wishes the students to
write two of the FITTskills assessments?
In some cases, the institution prefers their students to be exempt from writing the ?rofessional
Examination ; therefore the student is required to write either two FITTskills exams or submit two
projects to FITT for evaluation to qualify for exemption .
Can a graduate apply for the CITP designation if the credits are granted?
A graduate must complete all requirements for the CITP designation first. This includes the eight
FITTskills credits or their equivalencies, in some cases, the completion of the Professional
Examamination , and one year of international trade experience . If these requirements are met,
then a graduate may apply for the CITP designation. The application can be found at www.fitt.ca.
