CLASS PHOTOS – FRIDAY 13
JUNE
Please ensure your uniform is clean
and tidy on this day!
Summer Barbeque
Friday June 27th 6 – 9pm
The evening will start off with our school band
playing in the school hall at 6pm. There are many
activities planned for the children and we will
barbeque high quality burgers and sausages. Our
licensed bar will include draught beer from
Blackburn’s Three Bees brewery and you will be
able to sit out in the sun listening to your favourite
tunes played by our resident DJ for the evening.
Fingers crossed for sunny weather!
Donations for the cake stall are welcomed on the
day. Bottles for the bottle tombola are welcomed in
advance (anything in a bottle – shampoo, wine or
beetroot!) and filled jars for our Jarbola stall. The
children are learning a class dance to perform on
the evening linked to the country of the
Commonwealth that they have been studying.
We need
volunteers to
help on the day.
Please let the
office know if
you are
available.
Year 4 are learning about habitats in
Science and gardening in DT. We
welcomed Julie Livesey from the Prospects
Foundation who have a network of
volunteers gardening around Rishton.
Julie spoke to us about changing Piggy
Park, off Somerset Road, into an allotment
for children and helped us design plans to
send to Hyndburn Council with our
persuasive letters.
We also had fun transplanting seedlings
donated by Mrs Baker into bigger pots to join
some seeds sown by Year 5 on our
temporary roof garden. We are hoping to
sell these at the Rishton Festival as part of
our 'Pride of Britain' stall on Saturday
5th July.
PE KIT
Please ensure your child has their PE kit
in school every day (plain tshirt and
shorts). A lot of children do not have kit
and wish to borrow items from other
children or wear lost property which is far
from ideal. It is especially important now
the weather has improved and we will be
spending more time outside.
We are delighted to have the help of
Mrs Wendy Schofield. Wendy is not a
statutory service but is a mine of
information about where we can
access extra help and even funding
from various sources. Wendy is a
parent supporter working for school to
help parents through life’s up and
downs.
KEEPING FIT AT ST CHARLES!
Year 3 and 4 have enjoyed some great lunch time
runs in Miss Gavin and Mrs Fenton’s running club,
running as far as 3.5. miles! It has been great to
see so much enthusiasm and so many children
wanting to join! Next term we will see Year 5
taking to the paths along with Year 4….
St Charles Class Structure 2014- 2015
We welcome Mrs Parkinson, an experienced teacher
specialising in Maths support. Also, Mrs Schofield our
Home-School liaison worker. Mrs Hurst will continue to
work part time in various classes.
