Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps 847th Cadet Wing 2 Jul 09 Dear Future Cadet I would like to welcome you to our detachment. By deciding to join our corps of cadets you are making a life altering choice; you are taking it upon yourself to take charge of your life and become a part of Angelo State University’s elite. With that in mind, I would like to pass along some pearls of wisdom that should make your transition to cadet life a little easier. To be successful as a student and a cadet, you need to always maintain a positive attitude. College life will be tough at times, but with proper time management and a positive attitude you can tackle anything that comes your way. As a cadet corps, we are here to help you in any way we can. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, whether it be for help in a class or for help in the corps. We are all on the same team here. The last piece of advice I can give you is to work hard in everything you do. You will be challenged both mentally and physically, but only you can push yourself to be the best you can be. I am interested in seeing you make a smooth transition to college life. Here at Detachment 847, we believe in taking care of our people and I will do anything that I can to make your transition a comfortable one. I look forward to meeting and working with you this semester. I have a tremendous amount of respect for you and your decision to challenge yourself by entering Det 847. For any further questions you might have you may call the Department of Aerospace Studies at 325-942-2036. Sincerely Brett Schmerber J. BRETT SCHMERBER, C/Col, AFROTC Cadet Wing Commander
