To accept into our care children who have been
abandoned or orphaned, especially those infected
or affected by HIV /AIDS.
To provide these children with a caring Christian
environment whereby they will be nurtured and
cared for:
Physically
Emotionally
Spiritually
with unconditional love.
We recognise the exceptional vulnerability of
these children and proclaim that they are entitled
to special care and assistance by their caregivers.

Lambano Sanctuary is striding strongly into their fourth year of commitment to providing a
loving home environment to orphaned and abandoned HIV + children. We are currently
operating from three homes i.e. one in the Kensington area and two in Wychwood (Senator
Road and McAlpine Road).
We purchased the McAlpine Road home in June 2004 and spent a lot of time renovating
and decorating it. After 2 ½ months of exhausting work, the house was ready for the
children. The six oldest toddlers from the Kensington home were moved across to the new
house.
Lambano now have 22 HIV+ children staying long term, many of whom have been with us
from the inception of Lambano Sanctuary. One of the projects at the new house was to
convert the garage into a pre-school classroom. We now have a classroom at both
Wychwood homes, with 16 children attending from the three homes.
Over the past 4 years we have received 96 children into the home. 31 were adopted out,
16 passed away, 5 placed in “special needs” homes and 18 were reunited back into their
own or foster families.

A word from the Chairman:
On behalf of the board of directors here at Lambano, we are truly grateful for another
extraordinary year. As one can see from our annual report, God has truly blessed all
three Lambano homes. The faithful support of individuals and companies has been a
continual source of encouragement to our governing board and staff. If there is one
word that summarizes why we are delighted to be a part of this work, it is “redemption.”
Redemption can be defined as “buying back” or “to liberate by paying a price.”
Christians often speak about the blood of Christ which redeems them from slavery and
bondage to sin. This is ultimate redemption because God takes lives that are
considered worthless (Isaiah 64:6) and gives them eternal value in Christ. Scripture is
clear that God finds great joy in the work of redemption and is to be praised for it. Luke
1:68 says, “Blessed is the Lord God of Israel, for He has visited and redeemed His
People.
I believe that one of the reasons why our staff and board members find such great joy
in the work we do at Lambano, is because (in a much smaller way) we also are able to
partake in a work of redemption. Every time we hear about an HIV positive baby who
has been abandoned, and sometimes even thrown away with the rubbish, we have an
opportunity to participate in the work of redemption. With the support of so many
partners, we are able to provide a place that redeems abandoned children from a sure
physical destruction.
One of those babies is Kayise. She was found on some railway tracks while her
mother was drinking in a shabeen nearby. She was very thin, malnourished and had
not developed properly. Kayise was suffering from heart failure due to her HIV status
and TB. It was on the 24th of January, 2005 that Kayise was placed into the care of
Lambano Sanctuary. Today she enjoys good health that enables her to laugh and play
in the safe, loving environment of one of our homes.
Thank you for your support of Lambano. We feel privileged to be a part of a work like
this and it is only because of your generosity, prayer, and concern that our staff,
management, and board is able to care for children like Kayise. In this next year, some
areas of improvement that we would like to focus on are staff training, staff and
volunteer accommodations, and involvement with the building of an AIDS hospice for
babies. Please pray for our staff and leadership as we endeavor to maintain the
highest quality of care for the children we have been entrusted with.
With Gratitude,
Brian Biedebach

It has been a joy and a tremendous
privilege to serve at Lambano in the
past year.
We embarked on the exciting project
of opening another home in
Wychwood (McAlpine Road).
It was special to be involved
in the renovation and equipping
of the home. It is always so amazing
to me to see how God provides for us
in every new venture. When we blinked
our eyes, the new home was painted,
tiled and all the furniture and
equipment were donated.
I so appreciate the people working in our team. Thank you Lyn, Nike and Peggy for your faithful
service to God. I also want to thank our 20 care workers for the long hours and your loving care
of the children.
It is the prayer of my heart that our faith would be shaken into action by the words in James 2
verses 15 - 17:
Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I
wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is
it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
Lambano received 22 new children into the home during 2004/5 of which 6 were adopted, 2
placed in foster care, 1 reunited with family and 6 went home to be with the Lord. Seven of the
22 new children remain in our care as they tested HIV+. Between the three homes, we now
have 22 “Forever Lambano Babies” and we are able to care for 24 children at any given time.
The work in the Katlehong community has grown nicely and we trained 80 child caregivers in
2004/5. We are feeding 24 caregivers looking after children living with HIV / AIDS. Lyn is also
assisting the caregivers with health of the children and we were able to purchase school
uniforms for 18 of the children.
We sincerely thank all our volunteers, donors and friends for their support, love and prayers.
And mostly we thank the Lord for His provision and mercy in our lives.

We would like to take this opportunity and thank all our sponsors for your continued
support , encouragement and faithfulness in the past year. We are continually
astounded by the Lord’s provision and goodness. The children are a constant source of
joy and blessing to all who work at Lambano Sanctuary and many visitors have come
with mixed feelings about what to expect, but left having experienced in part what we
have the privilege of every day.
