4C 4C Homework Algebra II Notes Unit 4 Section C Solving Consecutive Integer Problems Consecutive Integers Consecutive Even Integers Consecutive Odd Integers Write an equation for each problem and then solve it algebraically. EXAMPLE 1: The product of two consecutive positive integers is 42. Find the integers. EXAMPLE 2: Two integers are consecutive positive even integers. If you multiply the smaller integer with 4 times the larger it equals 84 more than twice the larger. Find the sum of the two integers. 4 Page 1 EXAMPLE 3: Find two consecutive positive odd integers such that the square of the second, decreased by the first, is 74. 4 Page 2 EXAMPLE 4: Two positive numbers are consecutive even integers. The square of the smaller is four more than ten times the larger. Find the sum of the consecutive positive even integers. 4 Page 3
