Notes from the
Lunch Line

Here are some ideas that
will help make time in the
cafeteria pleasant. Students
will have the same meal
account that they had last year and the account balance from
last spring will carry over to the start of school. At meal time,
SMS and SHS students will need to know your ID number to
access your account. Elementary students are identified by
name and homeroom.
• All students and staff have an account that can be used
as a debit system to pay for cafeteria purchases.
• Money can be deposited into the account at any time, for
any amount.
• The line will move faster if students have deposited
money before the lunch period. Make sure that student’s
name is on the check or envelope if deposits are sent to
the cafeteria.
• SMS and SHS students will key in their school ID number.
As soon as the school pictures are taken a picture will
appear with a name. This should prevent someone from
using your account by keeping your ID number
confidential.
• Elementary students will be identified by name and
homeroom. Students should be able to tell the cashier
their First and Last names.
• All students will be charged the appropriate amount for
meals. Lunch $2.25/.40 reduced and $0.00 for free.
Breakfast is $1.25/.30 reduced and $0.00 for free. No
student will have to identify the meal status to the
cashier. Second meals will be charged at the adult price

of $1.90 for breakfast and $3.25 for lunch. (See chart on
the back)
Accounts must have a positive balance to be used for ala
carte items.
Charges are for emergency use only. No more than 3
meal charges are allowed. Students will be served an
alternate snack until charges are paid.
Cash purchases are acceptable but will slow the line.
Parents may monitor meal accounts on line at
www.mypaymentsplus.com You need the student ID
number which appears on schedules or call Food Service
at 812-271-1344 or your student’s school.
MyPayments Plus is also available as an app for your
smart phone.
Once an account is established you can monitor it toll
free at 866-684-4885
Lunch is a great time to visit and practice social skills. It
is important to practice good manners and follow the
guidelines in each building.
Visit the school web site for more information and menu
updates.
If you have any concerns or questions call Bonnie
Burbrink, Food Service Director, 812-271-1344.

Watch for color dots and menu boards to help students build a
great lunch. The Untied States Department of Agriculture
program, MyPlate recommends more than half our plate should
be fruits and vegetables, make half your grains whole, vary
protein choice, and switch to low fat or no fat milk. Learn more

Seymour Community
Schools Cafeterias
Welcome
You
Seymour Community Schools are part of the National
School Meal Program. We serve breakfast and lunch every day
to our students and staff.
Many exciting changes are coming to school meals to
provide healthy choices to students. Emphasis will be on more
fruits and vegetables, whole grains and low fat protein and milk.
Our meals are ‘offer vs. serve.’ We offer students 4 meal
components at breakfast and 5 at lunch. They may choose to
take all or part of the components. Breakfast is 1 or 2 ounces
protein, 1 or 2 servings bread or grain, or one of each and 1
serving fruit or vegetable and 8 ounces of low fat or fat free
milk. Students can take all four components or they can choose
to take 3.
Lunch has 5 components. They are a serving of
meat/meat alternate, 1-2 servings of bread or grain, a serving
of fruit and a serving of vegetable, and 8 ounces low fat or no
fat milk milk. Students may take a serving of fruit or vegetables
and 2, 3, or 4 other items for a meal. High School students will
have more fruit and vegetable servings available.
Applications for reduced price meals will be available at
the beginning of school. The application may be filed at any
time but you are encouraged to turn it in early in the year.
Families that qualify for free or reduced meals also qualify for
free book rental, fees are still parents’ responsibility.
