Gwinnett Online campus September 9th Time 12:30-1:30
Owls of Expression
Students will create an Owl illustration using oil pastels and watercolor resist.
Students will learn techniques of blending, visual texture and strong values of
darks and lights. Students can create any background they desire. Mrs. Creed
will show many different examples of previous students’ work to heighten their
creativity. Cost for materials $5.
September 17th
Autumn Skies
Time 12:30-1:30
Students will view a slideshow of beautiful autumn trees. Mrs. Creed will
discuss the use of thick and thin line in trees. Students will illustrate a tree on
black paper and cut it out to be used as a silhouette. Students will use acrylic
paint for the background and will have a choice between warm or cool colors
for their background. Cost for materials $5.
October 14th
Time 12:30-1:30
Decorative Coil Pottery
Students will create a Decorative Coil Vase. Mrs. Creed will demonstrate
different hand building techniques. Clay will be self drying and students
can paint their clay vase at home once it is dry.
Cost for materials $10.
November 12th Time 12:30-1:30
Cubism and Picasso
Cubism is a style of painting that was developed in the early 1900s. Cubist
paintings show objects from many angles at once. Two main artists, Pablo
Picasso and Georges Braque, developed Cubism. Students will create a face in the
style of Cubism using oil pastels. Cost for materials $10.
December 9th Time 12:30-1:30
Mexican God’s Eye (a cultural lesson)
A God's eye is a yarn weaving and a spiritual object. The Ojo de Dios (Eye of
God in Spanish) is woven with yarn and wood, often with several colors.
God’s Eyes are made with just a few supplies and are fun to create.

January 19th Time 12:30-1:30
Landscapes in Watercolor
Students will create a landscape using watercolor
transparently. Mrs. Creed will demonstrate several different
watercolor techniques and discuss perspective.

February 8th Time 12:30-1:30
Zentangle Flowers
Students will create Zentangle flowers using black marker and acrylic
paint for the background. Students will learn about different line
qualities to create contrast and visual texture.
Cost for materials $5.
March 15th Time 12:30-1:30
Clay Bird Feeder
Students will hand-build a clay bird feeder. Mrs. Creed will demonstrate
the lesson and discuss functional art. The clay is self drying.

April 12th Time 12:30-1:30
Doodle Cubes
Doodle cubes are a fun art activity for students that allows them to see how their 2D
designs can translate into 3D designs. Great for spatial awareness!
Cost for materials $5.
May 4th
Time 12:30-1:30
Exploding boxes
Exploding boxes is a fun lesson that teaches positive and negative imagery.
Students will be able to practice their cutting skills and explore symmetry. This is a
wonderful lesson where Art and Math make their connection.
