Trans disciplinary Theme: Sharing the planet
Central Idea: We share our planet with animals and Interact
with them in different ways.
Learner Profile
Children’s attention was drawn to the attributes of learner’s profile—caring,
inquirer and principled. Attitude—Responsible
Attitude-Empathy was inculcated by talking about our
responsibility towards animals and sensitizing them against
animal cruelty.
Learning Engagements
Children continued learning about the farm animals
We took them further by discussing how we and animals are interdependent
on each other. Such as hen and duck for eggs ; horse, donkey and camel for
transportation and carrying load
 Children inquired about their food, shelter, young ones and the sound of
these animals.
 We also talked the similarities/differences between a hen and duck, donkey
and horse on the basis of their physical features.



Experiential Learning
As an extension of the story -’Lazy donkey’ (Hindi),
children experimented with salt, sugar and cotton wool’
and tested their solubility in water to understand the causeeffect relationship depicted in the story. (https://

Literacy
Pre writing skills –Phonic sound of letter G was done through Finger
Phonics. Children could produce many words with initial sound of letter G.
 Letter G formation was done with the help of play dough, sand box writing,
rainbow writing
 Reinforcement of letters H, D, C was done through Finger Phonics.
 Listening and viewing skills were enhanced through picture books and audio
-visuals
 New Vocabulary– Colt, neigh, stable, load, hump, desert, cart, foal, webbed
feet, rooster and coop.
 Rhymes: Alice the camel, Camel has a humpy back, Horsie! Horsie and many
more.
Story narration: My mamma says Quack, quack ,Where is my mamma and The
little red hen ,lazy donkey and Gadha pani mein betha, camel learns a lesson

(Hindi)
Books we read this week
Numeracy

Number value from 1-5 was done with manipulative and count and draw
activity on the smart board.

Number counting was revised through picture counting (How many animals
on the farm) and audio-visuals.
P.E.
Students did water drills like walking, hopping and submerging during
swimming classes
were also familiarized with kicking techniques in water
Suggested activities
Dear Parents,
To make connection of the classroom learning at home,
please draw your child’s attention to observe animals in the
immediate environment and discuss about their physical
features, our interdependence and responsibility towards
them. Please share with us any relevant information/
action through pictures or written material.
Important notePlease send a toy/model/picture of your child’s favourite
animal for show and tell–(Animal Talk) activity in the class
by Monday. We would like to display them in the classroom
for some time and return after the activity
