Lent Term 2017 Music in Abbey and Chapel Services Sherborne School School Services School services in the Abbey on Wednesdays and Sundays are attended by the whole school, whose hymn singing is a source of great pride. During Morning Worship, Evening Prayer and Compline the music is led by the Choir, which currently comprises ninety-five singers, whilst a smaller Chamber Choir performs the music that is listed in bold type. Choral music at Sherborne is part of a strong and long tradition of excellence which benefits from the school’s very privileged use of the Abbey in weekly worship. Our music is not an end in itself but part of a larger whole. We hope that in the singing and in the silence, and in the beauty of this House of God, you will feel that greater presence. Visitors are most welcome to attend services in the Abbey on the following occasions: Sunday 8th January 15th 8.15pm Sunday January Wednesday 18th January Wednesday 25th January Sunday 29th January Wednesday 1st February Wednesday 8th February Sunday 26th February Sunday 5th March Wednesday 8th March Wednesday 15th March Sunday 19th March Wednesday 22nd March 8.15pm 5.30pm 5.30pm 8.15pm 5.30pm 5.30pm 8.15pm 11.30am 5.30pm 5.30pm 8.15pm 5.30pm Epiphany Carol Service (this is a ticketed service) Evening Prayer Compline Evening Prayer Evening Prayer Compline Evening Prayer Evening Prayer Morning Worship Compline Evening Prayer Evening Prayer Compline Organ music Organ music plays an integral part in our school liturgy.
