Keeping You Informed…
Picture Day
September 17 is Picture Day at Claude D Taylor School. Our photographer,
Harvey’s Studios, will be sending home information and a picture selection form to
be completed and returned to the school. They have suggested we do not wear
green clothing as their backdrop is green.
Meet the Teacher
You are invited to meet your child’s teachers Thursday evening, Sept 25 from
6:00pm-7:30pm. The meeting will begin in the gymnasium with general
information, PSSC information and then move to the children’s classrooms. The
teachers will do 2 presentations in case you need to attend a couple of different
homerooms. This is not set up as a Parent Teacher Conference format but
rather is an overview of your child’s school year.
A call for volunteer reading tutors in local schools!
Are you looking to share your love of reading and get involved in your community?
Elementary Literacy Inc. is a not-for-profit charitable organization with the
mission to work closely with educators, parents and communities for increasing
literacy rates across New Brunswick. To support this effort, Elementary Literacy
Inc. offers the Elementary Literacy Friends Program (Elf) in Anglophone schools
across NB.
The Elf Program is a one-on-one reading achievement program matching trained
community volunteers with grade 2 children who require additional reading
practice. The volunteer commitment is one hour, twice a week for ten weeks.
Volunteer sessions take place in the school at the end of the day. Claude D Taylor
School is looking for volunteers! If you are interested in becoming an Elf volunteer
you can register online at elfnb.com or call 1-855-898-2533.
Morning Drop Off and afterschool pick up
The morning drop off zone is a very busy place and to ensure it is as safe as
possible, please wait for a volunteer to open your car door, for your child to exit
the vehicle and wave you goodbye. If another person is dropping off your child
please ensure they know the procedure as well. Parents are not to be dropping
off children on Trites Road but should use the designated drop off area in
front of the school. The area on Trites Road is not supervised. We also ask
that adults do not go past the pylons on the playground in the morning.
When picking up your child afterschool please ensure you make eye contact with
the teacher (k-2) so they are aware you have your child. If at anytime you need to
pick up your child throughout the day ensure you sign him/her out at the office.
District Choir
Singing and the thrill of singing in a group is what the In Harmony District
Children’s choir offers again this fall. The In Harmony District Children’s Choir is
made up of students from schools in the Anglophone East School District, and is
under the direction of Mrs. Leanne Delaney and Mr. Mark Lloyd, both music
specialists in Anglophone East. The choir will be open to singers from Grades 4 to
8. Rehearsals will take place every Wednesday from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. in the
auditorium at Riverview Middle School. Transportation to and from rehearsals will
be the parents’ responsibility.
Saidat’s Presentation on Anti Bullying
Saidat’s program Music, Movement and Motivation will be coming to
CDT on September 16th, 2014. Students will be treated to a fun filled
morning with hip hop dancing presentations and a message promoting helping,
caring and sharing. The interactive presentation has been performed at
schools all over North America and we are thrilled to have Saidat working
with our students!
Sock Hop fundraiser
Thank you for all of the donations from hat day for our family in need due to a
house fire. This Thursday we will be having a sock hop for all students in grades
three to five at lunch. Donations of a loonie or toonie would be greatly
appreciated.
