Beginner Levels
PT A - Parent/Child (2-5 years) – GUPPIES
PARENT MUST BE IN WATER
• Learn how to enter and exit the water
• Water adjustment and underwater exploration
• Front float and glide, leg action
• Back float and glide, leg action
• Rolling front to back
• Rolling back to front
• Life jacket safety
• Sun safety
PT B - Parent/Child (2-5 years) – ANGEL FISH
PARENT MUST BE IN WATER
• Learn how to enter and exit the water – seated position
• Water exploration
• Arm action front crawl
• Combined stroke - front crawl
• Arm action back crawl
• Combined stroke - back crawl
• Blow bubbles
• Enter and exit the water using ladder
P1-Preschool 1 (3-5 years) – GOLDFISH
Purpose: Helps students feel comfortable in the water.
Goldfish participants learn to:
• Learn how to enter and exit the water
• Water adjustment and underwater exploration
• Front float and glide, leg action
• Back float and glide, leg action
• Rolling front to back
• Rolling back to front
• Life jacket safety
• Sun Safety

P2 - Preschool 2 (3-5 years) – STARFISH
Purpose: Help students feel comfortable in the water
Starfish participants learn to:
• Learn how to enter and exit the water- seated position
• Water exploration
• Arm action front crawl
• Combined stroke- front crawl
• Arm action back crawl
• Combined stroke – back crawl
• Blow bubbles
• Enter and exit water using ladder with support
P3 - Preschool 3 (3-5 years) - SEAHORSE
Purpose: Helps students feel comfortable in the water.
Seahorse participants learn to:
• Enter and exit water safely
• Float on front and back
• Open eyes underwater, submerge to pick up object
• Submerge mouth, nose and eyes
• Explore arm and hand movements
• Exhale underwater
• Explore swimming on front and back
• Use a life jacket
• Follow basic water safety rules
L1 - Introduction to Water Skills - SEALS
Purpose: Helps students feel comfortable in the water.
Seals participants learn to:
• Enter and exit water safely
• Float on front and back
• Open eyes underwater, submerge to pick up object
• Submerge mouth, nose and eyes
• Explore arm and hand movements
• Exhale underwater
• Explore swimming on front and back
• Use a life jacket
• Follow basic water safety rules

Intermediate Levels
L2 - Fundamental Aquatic Skills - WHALE
Purpose: Gives students success with fundamental skills.
Whales learn to:
• Exit water using ladder or side
• Tread water
• Glide on front and back
• Float on front and back
• Explore swimming on side
• Finning on back
• Sculling
• Roll over from front to back, back to front
• Enter water by stepping or jumping from the side
• Open eyes underwater, submerge head to retrieve object
• Swim on front and back using combined strokes
• Move in water while wearing life jacket
L3 - Stroke Development - OTTERS
Purpose: Builds on the skills in Seahorses through
additional guided practice.
Otters learn to:
• Jump into deep water from the side
• Perform rotary breathing
• Perform butterfly kick and body motion
• Breaststroke arm action
• Elementary Stroke arm action
• Whip kick
• Change from vertical to horizontal position on front and back
• Dive from sitting or kneeling position
• Survival float
• Perform HELP and huddle positions
• Submerge fully and retrieve object
• Swim front crawl
• Perform reaching assists
• Bob with head fully submerged
• Swim back crawl
• Use Check-Call-Care in an emergency

Intermediate Levels (cont’d)
L4 - Stroke Improvement - PENGUINS
Purpose: Develops confidence in the skills learned and improves
other aquatic skills.
Penguins learn to:
• Dive from compact or stride position
• Swim breaststroke
• Swim Back Crawl
• Swim Sidestroke
• Tread water using sculling arm motions and kick
• Swim underwater
• Swim elementary backstroke
• Use safe diving rules
• Perform throwing assists
• Perform feet-first surface dive

Advanced Levels
L5 - Stroke Refinement - DOPHINS
Purpose: Provides further coordination and refinement of
Strokes.
Dolphins refine the following strokes:
• Front crawl
• Elementary backstroke
• Back crawl
• Sidestroke
• Breaststroke
• Butterfly
Dolphins learn to:
• Shallow dive and begin swimming front flip turn
• Treading water with two different kicks
• Backstroke flip turn
• Survival swimming
• Rescue breathing
• Tuck and pike surface dives
L6 - Fundamentals of Diving & Personal Water Safety - SHARKS
Purpose: Refines all six strokes so students swim them with ease, efficiency, power and
smoothness over greater distances.
Sharks learn to:
• Refine all six strokes
• Breaststroke turn and Butterfly turn
• Kneeling, compact, stride, standing dive
• Forward dive fall from diving board, Forward jump,
• Tuck position, tuck and pike dives
• 3 types surface dives
• Survival skills
• Approach and hurdle from 1 –meter springboard
• Sun safety
