Opener
Tonight, the Yeshiva University softball team opens the
2017 season with a non-conference doubleheader against
Valley Forge, at Fordham University, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Yeshiva looks to build from its 2016 season where the
Maccabees earned a program-record seven wins.
This season, the Macs boast two returning captains, in
senior shortstop Hannah Dubin, who notched 12 hits last
year, as well as junior first baseman Michal Alge, who
batted an impressive .362 in 2016. In addition, returners
Elisa Alweis, Shoshana Rozenberg, Liat Wasserman, and
Ellie Chase look to guide the five newcomers on the team
with veteran experience.
Yeshiva possesses a slew of talented infielders, in Dubin,
Alge, Wasserman, and rookie Gabriella Chutter, with Sarah
Hiller behind the dish. Outfielders have been added with
newcomers Devorah Lamm and Leah Feder, to perform
alongside centerfielder, Chase.
The pitching staff looks to become a force to be reckoned
with, proudly featuring Alweis and newcomer Samantha
Cohen in the circle.
