Draft Tree Strategy—Vital to our environment
Trees enhance Dublin City as a place to live, work & visit. Within the City,
trees clean the air, provide natural flood defenses, mask noise & promote a
general sense of well-being.
A Draft Tree Strategy has been prepared that sets out a vision for the
management of public trees according to a long term plan. It also aims to
identify opportunities for new tree planting to ensure a sustainable &
balanced urban tree canopy.
The draft strategy is now open for submissions from the public via the DCC
consultation hub

fabulous hares. The hares were eventually
auctioned for charity & all monies raised will
be used to fund home nursing hours for sick
children, courtesy of the “Jack & Jill

“Beezie” courtesy of the Community Team
On Friday 1st April, the Kincora Active
Retirement Association (K.A.R.A.) who are
based in Clontarf, enjoyed a performance of the
one woman play ‘Beezie’ with accomplished
actress Sheila Flitton.
Sheila has performed this play on many
occasions including at the Edinburgh Festival &
Listowel Writers’ Week. The play is centred
around Beezie Gallagher who was the last
resident of an island on Lough Gill, Co. Sligo.
Beezie was born in the 1860s & the play recounts her life story living on the
island from her youth to old age & the hardship she faced. The afternoon
performance was enjoyed by all. The Community & Social Development Team
were delighted to organise this event in conjunction with K.A.R.A.

Wigs on the Green for Chanel College
Yes Sir your HONOUR!
Transition Year in Chanel College were treated to an
amazing experience courtesy of the Community Law
& Mediation Service, funded by Dublin City Council
recently. The lads got to witness (pardon the pun)
first hand what it was like to be both prosecuting &
defence barristers, jurors, witnesses (& yes even the
accused) at the Sutherland School of Law in UCD with
presiding Judge Dr. Liam Thornton UCD. For further
details of this exciting project, click here.
A host of golden daffodils for Fr. Collins Park

heads in sprightly dance”… “I gazed & gazed
but little thought, what wealth to me the show
had brought” - W. Wordsworth
Nothing quite says “Spring is here” like a
display of golden daffodils. See the “ 2016
Spring Bulb Display” in Fr. Collins Park which
was machine planted by our Parks & Landscape
Services, in October 2015.
