BMFDCW Non-Periodical News Bulletin – Third Issue – November 2009 BMFDCW Message Achieving leadership in the field of social development and causing a positive and tangible impact on the Egyptian society being Banque Misr arm in attaining its social responsibility Celebrating First Batch of Youths Qualified for Labour Market On July 28, 2009, Banque Misr Foundation for Development and Community Welfare (BMFDCW) celebrated the graduation of the first batch of the young people who were got qualified under the cooperation protocol, which was signed with the National Egyptian Development Association (NEDA), for qualifying a number of young people in Cairo to meet the needs of the labour market. BMFDCW concern about this project comes as part of its continous commitment to help young people in finding job opportunities. Therefore, the conditions of applying to this training course were easy and available to both genders of those who are holding higher, intermediate or even with no academic degree. The course included several issues that aim at boosting the knowledge level of the young people and other issues that contribute to empowering them with some skills and aspects of importance to the labour market. By the end of the training course, the Pass Certificates were handed to the trainees in a celebration held in Banque Misr Tower Hall in the presence of Dr. Ali Al Sai'di, First Deputy of BMFDCW Board of Trustees, who delivered the opening speech, Mr. Ibrahim Badran and Eng. Mohamed Ayman, members at the Board of Trustees. _________________________________________________________________________ Dedicating Economics Book Set to Tala'at Harb Cultural Center Tala'at Harb Cultural Center in Zeinhom Neighborhood, Sayyeda Zainab, has a distinguished and effective role in spreading awareness and culture in such significant popular area through the diversified cultural activities that are carried out by the Center. In this context, Banque Misr dedicated, in cooperation with BMFDCW, the Center's library a set of economic books encompassing different branches to enrich the young people with knowledge and boost their cultural awareness. ___________________________________________________________________________ Urology & Nephrology Center – Mansoura University In the context of its continuous commitment and support to the Urology and Nephrology Center at Mansoura University, BMFDCW donated by an amount of LE 500.000 as contribution to support the Center in promoting its activities and carrying out its social message. The Center is one of the significant and internationally distinguished centers that is known for serving and treating low income patients. ____________________________________________________________________________ 1 BMFDCW Resumes its Support to Bisha Amer Village – Menya Al Qamh In the framework of Bisha Amer Development project, BMFCDW cooperated with the Alliance for Arab Woman (AAW) and Ministry of Health at Sharqeya Governorate to organize a medical caravan during August 2008 at Bisha Amer Village – Menya Al Qamh district, Sharqeya Governorate. The slogan of the caravan was "Towards Better Health". Its target was to examine 322 individuals from the village residents including men, women and children, in all medical branches and providing sonar, surgical and blood analysis apparatuses. The caravan also distributed drugs for all the patients who visited the caravan; in addition to referring some cases to Menya Al Qamh hospitals in Sharqeya Governorate. During the month of October, the Foundation organized, in coordination with Sharqeya Governorate, Ministry of Environment and Zagazig University, an environmental camp in the village. In this context, 750 trees were planted in the village and a number of young people coordinated in tree-planting and cleaning the village for the purpose of boosting the environmental awareness and highlighting the importance of volunteering and the necessity of cleanliness and tree-planting. It is worth to mention that the Foundation has adopted a project for the development and promotion of Bisha Amer village of Menya Al Qamh, Sharqeya Governorate. Such project aimed at providing the village with all of its health, social, cultural and sports needs. For its part, BMFDCW was keen to employ the potentials of the young people in developing and promoting their village. ___________________________________________________________________________ Cultural Halls for Nabih Yakan Complex in Munira, Sayeda Zainab In its contribution to the civil, cultural, social and scientific activities, the Foundation upgraded the cultural halls of Nabih Yakan complex in Munira. BMFDCW has equipped two computer halls, one for public education and the other specialized for different professions; in addition to language lab and public library. This contribution was meant to qualify young people to meet the needs of local and external labour market. __________________________________________________________________________ The Holy Ramadan Festival 2009 BMFDCW shared the orphans the happiness of welcoming the Holy Month of Ramadan, feasts and School. In this context, the Foundation provided 650 orphans in 5 orphanages with their needs of new clothes, shoes, school bags and stationary. Also, Banque Misr employees, of the two branches Ramses and Khlousy, have kindly taken part in buying the children stuff 2 and distributing them to the orphans, which positively affected the children to a great extent. The employees have also shared the children their daily activities and their happiness with the coming of the feasts. __________________________________________________________________________ MOU Signed with Al Kasr Al Eini Hospitals for Developing Renal Failure and Surgery Unit, Fitness and Habilitation Unit BMFDCW signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Renal Failure and Surgery Unit and Fitness and Habilitation Unit at Al Kasr Al Eini Hospitals, by virtue of which the Foundation will contribute to the promotion and upgrading of the two units for the purpose of boosting the medical service level, alleviating the suffering of the poor citizen and meeting his needs. In this framework, the Foundation dedicated a Laparoscope apparatus to the Renal Failure Center, which is one of the specialized units that are fully dedicated to medically treat free-ofcharge cases. More than 4.000 cases undergo surgical operations in this unit annually. The Foundation also provided the Fitness and Habilitation Unit with an apparatus for measuring the breathing functions, which is necessary for the daily periodical tests made for the patients especially tumor patients and patients with liver diseases. The Fitness and Habilitation Unit was established since more than 20 years ago. Such Unit offers a lot of freeof-charge medical services to the patients (around 1600 ones) in Kasr Al Eini hospital, Tumor Institute patients and liver transplant cases. ___________________________________________________________________________ Achievements of 2009 in Figures Projects of LE 2.800.000 in the health sector. Projects of LE 400.000 in the field of Egyptian village development. Projects of LE 160.000 in the field of social service and orphans care. Projects of LE 90.000 for qualifying young people to join labour market opportunities. Training of 50 young people of both genders to qualify them to join labour market. Planting 1200 trees in Bisha Amer village in Sharqeya Governorate. Distributing 6.000 pieces of accommodation supplies in 5 hospitals. Distributing school supplies and gifts to 800 orphans in 5 orphanages. ______________________________________________________________________ Acknowledgment BMFDCW has previously announced for a competition of submitting suggestions for national developmental projects carried out by the Foundation.
