oikos Photo Competition Sustainable Urbanization 2012/2013 oikos Warsaw www.oikos-warsaw.org competition regulations 1. General Regulations 1.1. Goal The goal of this competition is to raise awareness among the academic community regarding the ideas of sustainable growth and corporate social responsibility. 1.2. Regulations oikos Photo Competition 2012 (hereinafter called the competition) is organized according to the rules specified in this document and in accordance with the statutory law in force. 1.3. Organizer The chief organizer of the competition (hereinafter called the organizer) is Students Scientific Group oikos Warsaw running at Warsaw School of Economics as a local chapter of oikos International. The co-organizers are other oikos chapters participating in the competition (list of them will be published later). 2. Rules of the Competition 2.1. Participants People who can participate in the competition are university students who send their photos together with the application form to the oikos chapter responsible for organizing the competition in their country in the time specified below. 2.2. Photos The photos sent for the Competition must be high quality and relevant to the theme of the Competition which is sustainable urbanisation. The photographs must be taken by the person sending them. The photos must be submitted via email to the email address which will be given by the appropriate oikos chapter. The photos must be submitted before the deadline given below. The size of the photograph should not be smaller than 2000x1333 pixels, 72 ppi. Photos that aren't sent via email won't be judged and will not be allowed into the competition. Each author can submit any number of photos. Submitting a photo to the competition is tantamount to accepting the rules stated in this very document and confirming the authenticity of the data submitted in the application forms during the registration process. 2.3. Dates The deadline for submitting the photos is 12.00 a.m. on 15th February. Between 16th and 28th February the photos will be published on the Facebook site of the Competition where they will be evaluated by site visitors. Between 4th and 8th March the best photos will be exhibited in the Parachute Aula in the Warsaw School of Economics and in the universities of other oikos chapters participating in the Competition. 2.4. Evaluating the photos The photos will be judged: a) by all visitors of the competition Facebook fanpage by clicking the “Like” button (up to 40 points), b) by oikos chapters according to the rule “one chapter, one vote” (up to 40 points), c) by a professional jury (the names of the judges will be announced on the Internet site later) (up to 20 points). The photos will be judged in following respects: compliance with the theme of the competition, interesting approach to the topic, artistic values and originality. Points given by Facebook fanpage visitors will be awarded in the following way: the photo with the highest number of votes will be awarded the maximal number of points, other photos will be awarded a number of points proportional to the number of votes in reference to the photo with the highest number of votes. Following formula will be used: P = a*c/b, where P – number of points received by the photograph, a - number of votes received by the photograph, b - number of votes received by the photograph with the max. number of points c - max. number of points available in this category Points given by oikos chapters will be awarded in the same way. Points given by the members of the jury will be awarded as follows: Each judge will give the photo between 1 and 20 points. The number of points awarded to the photo in this category will be the arithmetic mean of the points awarded by the judges. The total number of points awarded to the photo will be the sum of points it gets in all three categories. The results will be announced on 4th March before 12.00 p.m. on Facebook and later during the exhibitions following the competition. oikos Warsaw www.oikos-warsaw.org 2/3 2.5. Declarations Submitting the photo to the competition is tantamount to a declaration that the person submitting the photo: - is the author of the submitted photo. People portrayed in the photos agreed to have their photos exhibited and used for advertising purposes of the competition, - accepts all claims of any nature that a third party might raise against the organizer, - accepts the regulations of the competition, - consents to processing the personal data in accordance with the Protection of Personal Data Act (as published in the Journal of Laws of the Republic of Poland number 133), -consents to unpaid use of the submitted photographs by the organizer at any time and in any way as a mean of advertising the competition and oikos International. 2.6. Prizes Authors of the best photographs will be given prizes. The exact number and value of prizes will be announced on the website of the competition. The organizer reserves the right to award special prizes and additional prizes. The prizes will be distributed after this edition of the competition is closed. 3. Final Regulations 3.1. The organizer reserves the right to delete photographs and statements which are universally considered offensive, breach the rights of a third party, are illegal according to Polish law or include pornographic content. The decision to delete such photos will be unquestionable and final. 3.2. The organizer makes a reservation that they do not bear responsibility for events which are impossible to foresee or prevent and which could interfere with the planned course of the competition. 3.3. The organizer reserves the exclusive right to interpret and change the regulations. 3.4.
