Introducing Metro™ Safety Eyewear!
From Work…To Play. For Wear All Day.
October 2011 - Inspired by current,
“everyday” eyewear styles, Gateway
Safety has developed Metro™ Safety
Eyewear. Metro is the newest product
to join Gateway Safety’s portfolio of
contemporary protective eye solutions
that appeal to today’s worker.
Metro is designed to look less like
safety eyewear and more like popular
glasses, helping employers achieve
greater PPE compliance on the job.
With its current styling, workers may
even find themselves wearing Metro
home to use while mowing the lawn or
fishing with their friends.
“People encounter eye hazards on and
off the job,” said Michael Love, Gateway
Safety President. “By providing safety
glasses that employers will wear not just
at work but at home too, employers can
easily and affordably help protect their
employees’ eyes from hazards all day
long.”
With four different frame color
options, Metro will appeal to both men
and women. Glossy black and the
new soft caramel color offer the more
traditional look, while a vibrant pink
or tortoise shell pattern may suit the
trendier wearer. (The pink and tortoise
shell styles are also included in the new
GirlzGear™ collection – check out page 2 for
more details.)
Weighing well under an ounce, with
a soft nosepiece and contoured temple
tips, Metro is also ultra comfortable for
all day wear.

October: Healthy Lung
Month
In honor of ‘Healthy Lung
Month,’
Gateway
Safety
reminds distributors that
TruAir® Ultra is one of the
most economically priced
P100-level respirators on the
market today.
In addition, the TruAir Ultra
mask is loaded with comfort
and fit features to help ensure
compliance, with a facial seal
that conforms comfortably
and securely to facial contours
and adjustable, latex-free head
straps that hold the mask
snugly in place. A vent helps
reduce hot air buildup, making
breathing easier and reducing
worker fatigue.
TruAir Ultra P100 particulate
respirator filters at least 99.97%
of airborne particles and is
resistant to oil. For more details
on P100-class protection,
visit the NIOSH website:
http://www.cdc.gov/NIOSH/.

GirlzGear™: Safety Products Tailored to Women!
Gateway Safety’s SM lines –
StarLite® SM and Scorpion® SM –
have been popular with distributors
for several years, as these smaller styles
are often the preferred eyewear for
women workers. Now, Gateway Safety
introduces its GirlzGear™ collection,
which includes current StarLite SM
and Scorpion SM selections plus
several new product options designed
specifically for women.
In addition to the standard lens and
frame combinations currently offered
in the SM lines, now you’ll find
StarLite SM with pink temples! The
pink temple style is available in both a
clear lens and a new pink mirror lens.
Plus, as you may have read on the front
page of the newsletter, the new Metro
line of eyewear is available in both a
pink frame and a stylish tortoise shell
frame pattern.

“GirlzGear isn’t limited to eyewear,”
says Katie Mielcarek, Marketing
Coordinator for Gateway Safety. “As
many already know, distributors can
find the Serpent® Safety Helmet in
a pink shell…and nine other more
boring colors.”
Look for other products to be
added to the GirlzGear collection in
the future too!
Fearsome ‘Venom Man’ Coming to NSC!
Gateway Safety is celebrating
Halloween at NSC this year by
inviting ‘Venom Man’ to help us
out at our booth! He’ll be very busy
passing out StarLite® Gumballs®
to attendee ‘trick-or-treaters’ and
showing just how fierce Venom face
protection can be in the fight against
workplace hazards. If you’re heading
to Philadelphia, make sure to stop by
and see him, grab an eyewear sample
and even get a picture to show the
kids! He’ll be lurking at Gateway
Safety Booth #835…but on Monday
only, so don’t miss him!
Success Story: StarLite® Does It…Again!
On The Road Again...
I just wanted to say thank you for the StarLite Protective Eyewear. I own my own
tree service company and wear the dark charcoal model #4683 safety glasses.
Because of these safety glasses I still have my left eyeball and eye socket intact.
One day I was dumping a load of chips and wood from my dump truck and the
load shifted to the tail gate. The handle was a 2” x 16” steel bar on the tail gate
and it hit me with such force, it knocked me to the ground. I had temporary loss of
vision due to concussion from the force.
If it wasn’t for the safety glasses distributing the force, I would have had a loss
of an eye and major eye socket damage. I wear them every day because they are
also comfortable and look good too, besides the safety factor. I also wear the clear
and clear mirrored when I ride my motorcycle. I give all three kinds to my friends
when something happens to theirs. They all like how they fit and how they look;
thankfully they haven’t had to use the safety feature. Thank You so much for such
a great product!
Sincerely Grateful,
Gateway Safety is attending
the following shows to finish
off the year. We’ll be showing
off some of our newest products
featured in this newsletter at
both shows. Be sure to stop by
and see us!

President’s Message
Each Fall, I know my travel schedule
will be quite busy for the two months
before Thanksgiving. October and
November include several important
trade shows, plus my goal is to have all
my outstanding 2011 trips completed
before the chaos of year end holidays
begins in the airports.
This year, Gateway Safety will be
in Philadelphia for NSC and in San
Antonio for STAFDA. If you will be
attending one or both of these shows,
please stop by our booth for a few
minutes of your valuable time.
It’s been a very busy year for Gateway.
We’ve been developing several exciting,
new products to continue 2011’s growth
into 2012 - and we would welcome the
opportunity to share them with you.
For our old friends, we always look
forward to seeing you again, and to
personally ‘thank you’ for being our
distribution partner. Gateway has a
portfolio of great products, but people
and friendships are a key part of our
overall success. It’s always a pleasure
to meet with you – and to hear how
we can support you and help your team
achieve your growth goals.
And for our newer customers, whom
we have not had the pleasure of meeting
in person, please stop by so everyone
can put some faces to names – and
we can personally welcome you to the
Gateway Safety family. Telephones,
faxes and emails are an efficient way
to communicate, but nothing beats the
quality of an in-person conversation.
Finally, for those of you in Philly on
October 31, I was very excited to learn
‘Venom Man’ will be appearing in our
booth after several years in hiding.
Venom Man is the green-skinned
creature modeling our award-winning
Venom™
headgear/visor in our
original spec sheet from the product
launch. Depending on his mood,
photos with you and Venom Man
may be possible; but Gateway assumes
no liability for any bites. We’ve also
produced a special Halloween run
of StarLite® Gumballs® in 10 candycolored temples – to fill your Trick-orTreating basket. Scary creatures - with
treats - and fun - oh my!
For those of you unable to attend
NSC on the 31st, I probably can’t
arrange a personal visit from Venom
Man. But, we can send you a few
Halloween Gumballs . . . . sort of like
Trick-or-Treating via USPS. Please give
us a call to request your favorite flavors.
Here’s hoping we see you in the
coming weeks.
Travel safe!
Michael Love
