September Calendar
W.O.W Woman Only Wednesday This is a drop in program that runs Wednesday evenings starting at 6:30.
The cost varies depending on the project. All supplies are included. September classes are as follows:
September 16- Printmaking. Come on in and try some printmaking. You will carve your print onto
Styrofoam and print it out on various backgrounds and in different colors. Cost is $10.00 and this
includes HST.
September 23– Mandalas. Creating mandalas are a form of meditation. Draw you way to some stress
relief. Cost is $10.00 and this includes HST.
September 30- Clay Soap Dish. Come on in and enjoy some clay handbuilding. You will make a Clay
Soap dish. You will have to glaze it the next week. Cost is $12.00 per dish and this includes HST.
Healing through Art This happens on Tuesday mornings at 10:30 to 11:30. This a chance for people to meet
and experience the therapeutic value of art in their lives. We discuss how art influences us, helps us to heal,
can be used to help alleviate stress, and give our lives balance. Cost is $5.00 per session. All you need to bring
is a sketch book, or you can purchase one here. A portion of the session fee is donated to the Kenya Project, a
fundraiser by the Anglican Church Youth Group.
Glass Fusion For Kids This class runs on Tuesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 pm. It is for ages 6 and up. This is a
four week class and the dates are Sept 15, 22, 29 and Oct 6. Each class is an hour long. Over the course of
the four weeks, children will make wind chimes, suncatchers, a dish, a coaster and a pendant. Cost is $80.00
and this includes HST.
Wednesday Art Club For ages 7 and up. This runs Wednesday after school from 3:15 to 4:45. Dates for this
program are Sept 16, 23, 30 and Oct 7. The first two weeks(longer if needed) of this class will involve a HUGE
collaborative painting for a public art piece. The canvas is 4.5ft by 6ft. The summer art students have worked
on designing a mandala for the painting. This piece, done by children from the art Wed & Thurs art classes will
be hung on the outside of the Art Studio 138 building as public art! So along with the collaborative the four
week program includes:
Week One Clay Handbuilding
Week Two Bisque Glazing
Week Three Printmaking
Week Four Painting
Cost for this program is $75.00 which includes materials and HST. To sign up for a single class is $20.00 plus
HST.
Thursday Art Club For ages 7 and up. This runs Thursday after school from 3:15 to 4:45. Dates for this

Art Journaling (Adult Class)
Wednesdays, September 16, 23 & 30 from 1:30 to 3:00. You will learn about
Art Journaling and its value in your life. This is a drop in class and no registration is necessary. In each class
we will do a page that will explore a new technique. Over the course of the classes we will experiment with
paint, texture, lettering, doodling, stamping, printmaking and many more art journaling ideas. Cost for each
class is $15.00, including materials and HST
Beginner Glass Fusion (Adult) – Tuesday, September 15 from 1:30 – 3:30. Students will learn the basics of
glass fusion. You will learn correct use of tools and equipment and about studio safety. You will make wind
chimes and a suncatcher for your window. Cost for this class is $60.00 and it includes materials and HST.
Intermediate Glass Fusion (Adult) Tuesday, September 22, from 1:30 to 2:30. You must have taken the
Beginner Glass Class in order to take this one. You will make a glass bowl - design your bowl, cut your glass and
learn about the slumping element in glass fusion. Cost for this class is $50.00 including materials and HST.
Clay Handbuilding Pt 1 & 2 (For all ages) Thursday, Sept 17 and Thursday, September 24 from 6:30 to 8:30.
In this class you will learn some basic handbuilding techniques. Cost for this class is $50.00 including all
supplies and HST.
Mosaic Garden Stepping Stone (Adult) Tuesday, September 29, from 2:00 to 4:00. Create a stepping stone
for your garden. You can design your own stone or use one of our designs, cut glass for the mosaic, place the
glass according to your design, then mix and pour the cement in the mold. Return to the studio three days later
to pick up your finished stone. Cost for this class is $60.00, including all materials and HST.
Parent & Tot Friday Mornings at 10:30 to 11:30. Dates are Sept 18, 25, Oct 4, 11. This is a four week
program for ages 18 months to 5 years. The first session is a fall theme. Cost for this program is $50.00 and
this includes HST.
Sept 18 is Printmaking. A variety of objects will be used for printmaking, Vegetables, styrofoam, and leaves.
Tots will make various prints on paper, finishing printing on a felt table runner that can be used in the home.
Sept 25 is Apple Time. Two apple themed art projects will be available for the tots to create.
Oct 2 is Sunflower time. Tots will create a collaborative Van Gogh inspired sunflower that will hang in the
studio. They will also do a sunflower art project to take home.
Oct 9 is Turkey Time. Get ready to have a Thanksgiving Turkey piece of art to display in your home this year.
Seasonal Craft Time This happens Fridays at 2:00. The dates are Sept. 18 & 25. Sept 18 you will make a
sunflower arrangement. Cost is $25.00 which includes materials & HST Sept 25 you will make a primitive
wooden apple ornament. Cost is $20.00 which includes materials & HST.
Make & Take Make and Take is always available. Make & Take is featured on Saturdays from 2:00 to 4:00.
Prices range from $5.00 to $20.00.

Kathleen Tudor will be reading from her book, “Innocents Die:
Thursday, Sept 17 from .
Art Studio 138 & Whirligig books are partnering up for a Book Reading by Kathleen Tudor. Kathleen will be
reading from her book, Innocents Die. Kathleen is a local author from Lockeport. Innocents Die is the last
book in a three book series. Kathleen grew up in a large fishing family on Nova Scotia’s South Shore. She
taught English Language, Literature and Creative Writing at St. Mary’s University. After retirement she
established Roseway Publishing and Community Books. Her previous work include four novels, Getting Away, (as
K.K. Richardson), Deep Roots, Dirty Deeds, and The House on Burnt Hill, and illustrated short story, Five
Square Miles, and two CDs of short stories, If It Isn’t One Thing It’s Another and Time of Jane Plusplus.

Just want to come in and create? The Studio is available for glass and clay work when there are no classes
scheduled. Don’t forget that you are welcome any time to come in, get a beverage, knit, crochet, sketch, or
read! Check out our new Make & Take area! Make and Take items are on display and you may select any project
to make and take any day we are open. We have projects for all ages! Drop by and see what is new!
Registration for classes is preferred, but if we have an open spot you are welcome to attend on short notice.
