Registration and check in begins on Friday, October 14, from 3PM--5PM, with dinner
following at 5:30PM. For those who are planning to join us on Saturday, we begin at 8:30AM
with breakfast and then registration. Registration forms and information can be found online
at www.adlwml.org, from your Atlantic District LWML zone president, or Deaconess Rojas at
[email protected].
Registration for this great weekend opens on September 1, 2016.
Our mission offering during this retreat is to raise funds for the Silent Samaritan Program
from the Lutheran Counseling Center (LCC). This fund was designed to make counseling
affordable for all people who come to Lutheran Counseling Center for help. Anonymous
subsidies through the Silent Samaritan Program help people unable to afford to fully pay for
counseling sessions receive needed assistance.
We also have the opportunity to bless those around us at Tuscarora. We shall have an offering
on Saturday for the youth who help and serve us during our weekend at Tuscarora.

Mrs. Monique Nunes is a joy-filled educator and Spirit-filled
vocalist. She brought zest to Valparaiso University, where she
serves as Associate Director of Multicultural Programs and
continues to do so as the Director of International Programs at
Martin Luther School in Queens. She presents widely and is highly
regarded for her workshops. She speaks and sings in the U.S.A.
and abroad on topics related to women, children and faith. She has
a Bachelor of Arts from Concordia College, Ann Arbor, MI and a
Master’s Degree in Human Resource Development from Webster
University, St. Louis. She is a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha
Sorority. She has served as a teacher, principal and
Dean of Students (Director of Student
Development). Her hobbies include working out, and
some say she’s a bit fanatical about Boot Camp and Zumba, striving to stay
fit in body, mind and spirit for peak performance in accomplishing her
mission. Mrs. Nunes places her faith in the promises of Jesus Christ. Her
favorite Bible verse is Jeremiah 29:11, “’For I know the plans I have for you,’
declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give
you a hope and a future.’” Her best friend and life coach is also her husband,
Dr. John Nunes. They are blessed with six grown children. On November
20, 2015, Mrs. Nunes’ husband, Rev. Dr. John Nunes was named President Elect of Concordia
College-New York. We are blessed and privileged to have Mrs. Monique Nunes, former
Lutheran Women’s Quarterly cover girl, with us as our retreat leader.
