The Shirt Project began in 1990 as a means to raise money to fund Notre Dame
student activities – a cause it continues to support today.
In the spring of 1990, senior Brennan Harvath ’91 had the idea to sell T-shirts to raise
funds for AnTostal, the Student Union Board’s spring festival. The shirt created for the
fundraiser was also intended to unify the student body for the home-opener football
game against Michigan on September 15, 1990. Over 9,000 shirts were sold and sales
reached over $17,000.
27 years later, revenue generated by sales of the Shirt 2016 still goes towards the
mission: aiding the students at Notre Dame. The money raised funds The Shirt Charity
Fund, which is available to students with extraordinary medical expenses, The Rector
Fund, which allows students in need of financial aid to participate in on campus activates and
events, and to the clubs and organizations of the Student Activities Office. By purchasing
The Shirt, you are impacting the daily lives of every student at Notre Dame.
The Shirt 2016 will retail for $18, but until April 5th you can pre-order yours through
the Notre Dame Club of Greensburg/Uniontown for the low, low price of just $15!
