Happy New Year: Jan. 1, 2017
January 2017
From Wikipedia, New Year is the time at which a new calendar year
begins and the calendar's year count is incremented. In many cultures, the event is celebrated in some manner. The New Year of the
Gregorian calendar, today in worldwide use, falls on 1 January (New
Year's Day), as was the case with both the old Roman calendar and
the Julian calendar that succeeded it.

Zoomobile: Jan. 11, 2017
Talk about a wild way to get your students excited about education —
the NEW Zoo is coming back to SPCC! A live animal ambassador will
be sure to liven up our classrooms on Jan. 11, 2017 at 9:30am. The
zoo educator will bring a fun, animal-themed story book to share with
the children. After the story, students will be introduced to up to four
different animals – at least one of which they may be able to touch
(based on children’s ages). Parents are welcome to join!

Hugh was nominated for January,
2017 Member of the month for many
reasons. This cute little smiles
brings so much joy and laughter to
others around him. Hugh’s favorite
toy to play with is the bead toys in
the Front Room. He loves to read
books and enjoys being read too!
Hugh will soon be a big brother as
well. We are so happy for the
Janssen family!
Way to go Hugh!
Congrats!

Front Room: December was another fabulous month in the toddler room, but some changes will take
place starting in January. We are sad to have to say good bye to Mrs. Nicole, but wish her all the best! Mrs.
Alyssa will be our new Part Time closer which leads into Mrs. Mary Jane taking over the Front Room. MJ has
been our Lead Front Room teacher before and she has missed it the last few months. We appreciate her generosity for working with the two year olds! As always, we will all work together through the transitions and continue
to provide the best care for your children. Stay n Play has purchased new toddler toys, including a mirror for the
little ones to see themselves, a book shelf, and a new soft climber for them to play on! Parents, thank you for all
your help and support. We truly appreciate your dedication. ~ Ms. Felicia
Sun Room: It’s hard to believe that 2017 is already upon us. We all hope that you had a great holiday with
friends and family. December was filled with lots of fun and much learning in the Sun Room. Our kids were
working very hard to learn good manners, helping each other with sharing, and loving our friends with hugs. We
practiced picking up our toys after playing with them and putting them back on the proper place on the shelves.
Some of our friends know how to hold the scissors correctly and can cut the papers on a straight line. We practice cutting and coloring daily. We also love stretching our muscles. We did some movements to ‘Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes” and “Hokey Pokey”. They love to dance and sing. When preparing to go outside, we
encourage the kids to try and put their own shoes and jacket on, or ask for help! We have accomplished many
things last December and January will bring lots more excitement such as Ms. Kerry being the new Lead 2-3
year old teacher! We are very excited to show off her experience in child care. Ms. Kerry has so much to bring
to Stay n Play. Our themes for the month are snowman, snow animals, winter wonderland, snow attire, and all
about winter. The sunroom kids love going outside and playing with the snow. Thank you and Happy New year
to all!! ~ Mrs. MJ

Living Room: Happy New Year Everyone! We hope your Christmas season was great! We turned lots of
handprint art into reindeer, angels, and candy! We also danced to the music, pointed to our nose, ear, eyes,
and mouth. In January, we will work on snow animals, snow attire, and winter wonderland. We want to welcome our youngest teeny tiny friend, Mason, and say Happy Birthday to Allan. Joshua and Audrey are walking
very well. Logan holds onto furniture to stand up. Teagan turns over by herself. Tyler holds onto the rattles and
toys. It is so fun to watch them grow up. Parents: please remember to bring in extra clothes for your child and
make sure your child has winter clothing here. We will go outside if the weather is 30 degrees or higher. Thank
you and have a wonderful January. ~Mrs. Hale

Downstairs: We had such a blast celebrating Christmas in our classrooms with your children this past
December. We made some beautiful holiday crafts, sang Christmas carols, and had a chance to meet Santa at
our annual Christmas party! Big thank-you's to all the families who came out to enjoy this beloved event with us.
We hope you all enjoyed your children's parent gifts, they worked very hard and were so proud of their final product! Thank-you again to all of the wonderful families who gave us gifts this year, we appreciate it more than you
know :) In January, we look forward to experiencing and learning about the best parts of the winter season. As a
reminder, please be sure your child has all winter attire here everyday, including snow pants. Even if there isn't
snow, the kids need them to stay warm on the frigid days! If the temperature is above 10 degrees, we go outside
to experience winter fun. Have a blessed and safe new year! -Mrs. Cindy and Ms. Olivia

DCF News: A Resource for Wisconsin Shares Subsidy Program
Winter/Spring Closings:
Policy Changes Regarding School Closures and Child Care Needs
“Under MyWIChildCare there are important policy changes that parents should be aware of. One change is
that parents will need to identify their need for child care when school is scheduled to be closed. Parents who
need child care when school is closed will need to ask for this additional time. Parents will need their child’s
school year calendar with them and be ready to discuss their need during their child care interview or authorization assessment. Parents can also request Wisconsin Shares subsidy for days when school is closed due to
bad weather. If parents have an additional child care need that was unknown at the time the authorization was
written, they must report this to their local agency within 10 calendar days of the additional need.” Please
speak to your caseworker regarding any questions related to these changes.
To observe the holidays, Stay n Play will be closed the
following days. We apologize for any inconvenience.
