Welcome
to
Spanish
Class!
This
course
will
give
you
a
chance
to
explore
the
Spanish
language
and
the
rich
culture
of
Spanish
speaking
countries.
There
is
so
much
to
learn
about
the
language,
culture,
history,
art,
geography,
literature
and
more!
I
hope
to
foster
a
desire
in
you
to
take
the
initiative
to
learn
inside
and
outside
of
the
classroom.

ACADEMIC
DISHONESTY:
Cheating
will
NOT
be
tolerated.
Any
student
involved
in
cheating
will
earn
a
zero
on
that
assignment,
parents
will
be
contacted,
and
administration
will
be
notified.
Taking
out
a
cell
phone
during
a
test/quiz
is
automatically
considered
cheating.
Plagiarism/cheating
in
this
class
can
be
manifested
in
the
use
of
online
translators,
use
of
a
previous
students
work,
and
use
of
any
other
person
than
themselves.

detailed
information
about
academic
dishonesty.

EXTRA
CREDIT:
There
will
be
opportunities
to
earn
points
for
extra
credit
periodically
throughout
the
semester
on
quizzes
and
tests.
I
will
not
be
giving
additional
extra
credit
assignments
for
this
class.

HALL
PASSES:
Students
have
time
in
between
classes
to
use
the
restroom.
If
there
is
not
sufficient
time,
students
may
use
the
restroom.
Wait
for
transition
times
during
class
to
ask
to
use
the
restroom
or
leave
the
room,
you
will
not
be
given
the
hall
pass
while
we
are
in
the
middle
of
an
activity
or
lesson.

Participate

the
class
discussion

You
can
only
master
a
language
by
being
actively
involved
in
learning.

Be
prepared!
Bring
all
materials
to
class
daily!
Material
will
include:
pen/pencil,
notebook/binder,
homework,
Spanish/English
dictionary
and
any
materials
needed
to
participate
in
class
discussion!
You
may
leave
your
Repaso
book
in
the
classroom.
+
No
eating,
drinking,
or
chewing
gum
in
this
classroom.
+
Cell
phones,
iPods,
etc.
are
not
permitted
in
the
classroom.
If
it
is
visible
or
in
use
in
the
classroom,
it
will
be
confiscated
and
the
appropriate
consequences
per
school
policy
will
be
enforced.
Purses/bags
are
to
be
on
the
floor
underneath
your
desk
at
the
beginning
of
class
to
avoid
temptation.

based
on
a
combination
of
points
accumulated
out
of
points
possible
earned

homework,
class
work,
dialogues,
compositions,
classroom
activities,
target
language
use,
quizzes,
tests,
projects,
and
participation.

you
earn
them.
+
Grades
will
be
entered
on
SAM/PAM
as
often
as
possible.
It
is
your
responsibility
to
check
your
progress.
I
will
also
return
work
in
a
prompt
manner
Assignments
+
Keep
track
of
your
assignments
in
a
planner
or
calendar.
You
will
be
made
aware
of
assignments,
quizzes,
tests,
and
projects
at
the
beginning
of
each
week.

There
will
be
tests
and
quizzes
to
assess
your
progress
and
understanding
of
topics
covered
(at
least
1/week).
Tests
will
be
given
at
the
end
of
each
concept
covered.
+
Homework
will
be
assigned
frequently.
When
there
is
no
homework
you
should
be
reviewing
topics
or
finding
ways
to
use
the
language,
i.e.
listening
to
music
in
Spanish,
reading
magazines/news
articles
in
Spanish,
watching
shows/movies
in
Spanish,
etc.

There
will
be
frequent
compositions
and/or
dialogues
in
the
target
language.
There
will
be
a
minimum
of
one
(1)
project
per
course.
Attendance
and
Makeup
Policy
+
Being
in
class
everyday
is
extremely
important.
You
must
practice
language
skills
everyday
to
improve
and
progress.
Therefore,
keep
your
absences
to
a
minimum.
+
I
will
be
posting
homework
assignments
on
my
school
webpage
weekly.
+
Homework
may
be
turned
in
one
day
late
for
half
credit,
unless
otherwise
indicated.
After
that,
assignments
may
not
be
turned
in
for
any
points,
except
in
the
case
of
excused
absences.
+
You
have
as
many
days
to
make
up
the
work
as
you
have
been
excused
for
your
absence.
+
When
you
are
absent
it
is
your
responsibility
to
get
information
about
make‐up
work.
