And if people don´t take vacations, there is a chance that they may die younger than those who take them. As a society, we are obsessed with work. Some people think that taking a vacation is a sign of weakness. Others who haven´t vacationed in years see it as a symbol of honor. And still others apologize for taking a vacation because they feel guilty for taking off. We all know that stress causes problems related to ulcers, to body pains, insomnia and others. Vacations are one of the major antidotes to stress. I think employers should post warning labels in the workplace similar to those on cigarettes packs: “WARNING: Working too many weeks without a vacation is going to kill you. Seriously, you are going to die from it”. Or, you can choose to keep working non-stop like a hamster running on a wheel that keeps going faster and faster.
