Prelude
Words of Welcome and Announcements
*Hymn of Praise
“We’ve a Story to Tell”
UMH 569
We’ve a story to tell to the nations, that shall turn their hearts to the right, a story of truth and mercy, a story of peace and
light, a story of peace and light. For the darkness shall turn to dawning, and the dawning to noon-day bright; and Christ’s
great kingdom shall come on earth, the kingdom of love and light.
We’ve a message to give to the nations, that the Lord who reigneth above hath sent us his Son to save us, and show us that
God is love, and show us that God is love. For the darkness shall turn to dawning, and the dawning to noon-day bright; and
Christ’s great kingdom shall come on earth, the kingdom of love and light.
We’ve a Savior to show to the nations, who the path of sorrow hath trod, that all of the world’s great peoples might come to
the truth of God, might come to the truth of God. For the darkness shall turn to dawning, and the dawning to noon-day
bright; and Christ’s great kingdom shall come on earth, the kingdom of love and light.
*Affirmation of Faith
The Apostles’ Creed
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was
conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; The third
day He arose from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence
he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit; the holy catholic** church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of
the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
** means universal
*Passing the Peace

Prayer Hymn
“America the Beautiful”
UMH 696
O beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain; for purple mountains majesties above the fruited plains! America!
America! God shed he grace on thee, and crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea.
O beautiful for heroes proved in liberating strife; who more than self their country loved, and mercy more than life!
America! America! May God thy gold refine, till all success be nobleness, and every gain divine.
Morning Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give
us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory, forever. Amen
Receiving of God’s Tithes and Our Offerings

*Doxology
“Praise God, From Whom All Blessings Flow”
UMH 95
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow. Praise Him all creatures here below. Praise Him above, ye heavenly hosts. Praise
Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen.
Scripture Lesson
1 Peter 2:1-10 NIV
Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave
pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.
As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— you also, like living
stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through
Jesus Christ. For in Scripture it says:
“See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to
shame.”
Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe,
“The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,”
and,
“A stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall.”
They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for.
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of
him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of
God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Hymn of Response
“Here I Am Lord”
UMH 593
I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard my people cry. All who dwell in dark and sin, my hand will save.
I who made the stars and night, I will make the darkness bright, who will bear my light to them - Whom shall I send? Here I
am Lord. Is it I Lord? I have heard you calling in the night; I will go Lord if you lead me. I will hold your people in my heart.
*Benediction
*Benediction Response
“Blessed Assurance”
UMH 369
This is my story, this in my song, praising my Savior all the day long; this is my story, this is my song, praising my Savior all the
day long.
