Hills of Lewisham 2: Ladywell to Forest Hill
Continuing our exploration of the borough’s
gravel ridge with its fascinating chain of parks,
cemeteries and green spaces, including Blythe
Hill Fields, One Tree Hill and Forest Hill with
the Horniman Museum. 6.5km/4 miles, 2-2½
hours. Meet Ladywell station SE13 7XB

Porters, Peers and Pilgrims: London's
brewery history from the City to Southwark
Join Des de Moor, author of the CAMRA
Guide to London's Best Beer, Pubs and Bars,
exploring central London's brewing heritage,

River to Downs 1: Greenwich to Catford
The first stage of a walk from the Thames to
the North Downs, from Greenwich’s historic
waterside through fascinating streets and
waterside paths to Lewisham and through
Ladywell Fields. 6.5km/4 miles, 2-2½ hours.

Blackheath and the Ravensbourne
A belated 1st anniversary walk exploring
Blackheath itself and into the valley of the
Ravensbourne for a walk past the sites of old
silk mills, led by Chris. 8km/5 miles, 2½-3

Cultural contrasts: Barbican to Dalston
A walk linking two iconic cultural centres, the
Barbican and the Arcola Theatre, by way of a
variety of arts venues. 8km/5 miles, 2½-3

Festival of Winter Walks: Beckenham Place
and Downham Woodlands
Walk off the mince pies on a loop through one
of the most fascinating sections of the Green
Chain including sweeping Beckenham Place
Park and an unexpected woodland strip
through a 1920s housing estate. 8km/5 miles,
2½-3 hours. Meet Grove Park station (National

Sunday 1 January
Festival of Winter Walks: Charlton and
Woolwich Riverside
Welcome in London’s Olympic year with a
bracing walk along the glorious Thames from
2012 venue the O2 to the Thames Barrier and
on to Woolwich Arsenal. 7km/4½ miles, 3
hours. Meet North Greenwich station
