TRADITION REVOLUTION, hence the same word * * Vicente Aleixandre Nobel Prize in Literature, 1977. The Francisco Gómez winery nestles inside a magnificent valley among luxuriant green slopes and winding mountains, interspersed with dry river beds and rolling hills. Located inland of the Mediterranean Sea, 700 metres above sea level, the microclimate of this valley has always been perfectly suited for growing vines and olive trees. The flora of the area -Mediterranean woodland, pine trees and rosemary bushes together with local wildlife that includes hares, owls and golden eagles, intermingle with 1,000-year old olive trees, old Monastrell vines and interminable rows of vine trellises in an extraordinary 3,500 hectare estate, 600 of which are dedicated to vine and olive growing. In ancient times, viticulture was practised here by Iberians, Celts and Romans, followed by the Moors, who developed it so successfully that the area was to become suppliers of wine to the court of the Castilian crown, which introduced wine, including the Alicante Fondillón, to the New World. The Francisco Gómez winery makes every effort to preserve this ancestral legacy and enhance wine and olive oil culture in every way it can. The vines of Francisco Gómez are grown according to environmentally-friendly and sustainable methods, following the strict requirements set down by organic vine-growing. Over the years we have carefully brought together the time-honoured, local methods and the most modern technological techniques and have succeeded in establishing a way of working that is genuine, appropriate and adapted to the unique terroir of our vineyards. “The world of wine: my childhood dream, a dream come true, a passion to which I am completely devoted. Something of me is in every bottle”. “Our wines have soul, arouse the senses, conjure up fond memories and mirror the loving care and painstaking work which we lavish on them. They also enable us to rescue and keep alive our traditions and show to the world the unique culture of our land and our heritage.” “Like one big family, the crew at Francisco Gómez work relentlessly to achieve wines of the highest quality: wines that are full of life and character, grown in an exceptional location.” “The winery: Radiating warmth and loving care it is like the family home. Come and visit our winery, see for yourself a dream come true and come and share my passion.” Francisco Gómez Inextricably linked with the land and the fruit it bears.
