Frequently Asked Questions
What does A+ Certified mean?
A+ Certified is a comprehensive testing and certification of lighting system interoperability. With
an A+ Certified solution, the fixtures and controls are certified to operate predictably and
consistently together.
Compatible –fixtures and controls are designed, manufactured and tested for
interoperability
Consistent – initial lumen output, color consistency and dimming levels are factorycalibrated and verified
How are systems certified?
We conduct rigorous engineering checks to certify interoperability among major system
components backed by our warranties.
What warranty comes with an A+ Certified system?
Please see the Warranty Summary (link) for more details.
Why is Acuity Brands offering A+ Certified solutions?
We developed A+ Certified because rapid changes in technology and broad industry adoption of
LED systems are dictating the need for greater rigor in ensuring interoperability among
components in lighting systems. Against the backdrop of rapid adoption of LEDs and more
stringent energy codes, it is now more important than ever to ensure that complex lighting and
control systems work together.
Does A+ Certified apply to all Acuity Brands products and systems?
A+ Certified applies only to complete lighting systems offered by Acuity Brands and designated
as certified. A+ Certified solutions are designed for specific applications; all of the components
of the system have been tested and certified to work together. As such, not all of our high
quality Acuity Brands products and systems are certified today.
What’s the benefit of A+ Certified?
For a lighting application, A+ Certified means a verified consistent color appearance and
dimming performance of all the fixtures within the certified solution. For lighting professionals, it
means ease, freedom and confidence that all parts of a certified lighting system will operate
together with Acuity Brands as your single contact for support before, during and after
installation.
What systems are currently A+ Certified?
Please contact your Acuity sales representative for additional information.
Can products that are not A+ Certified be specified as part of an A+ Certified system?
No, because of the rigorous interoperability testing, each A+ Certified system is sold as a
complete system and non-certified products CANNOT be substituted for certified products.
Can I specify my own system and have it designated as A+ Certified?
No, all A+ Certified systems contain components that have been designed, sourced and system
tested by Acuity Brands and operate as complete lighting systems.
Does Acuity Brands offer A+ Certified systems with other manufacturer products?
We plan to work with other manufacturers that seek to deliver A+ Certified products as part of
Acuity A+ Certified systems, and will incorporate their products if they can pass our rigorous
interoperability and performance testing.
Are the A+ Certified systems priced competitively?
Absolutely; A+ Certified systems are priced comparably to multi-vendor systems that do not
offer our A+ Certified designation, so the added value makes our systems extremely
competitive, and a superior choice.
What if there is an issue with an A+ Certified system?
If there is a question or issue about an A+ Certified system before or during installation, work
with your local sales representative or Acuity Brands sales and support team. If there is a
question or issue after installation, please contact our Tech Support.
