THE STOODY MIG/TUNGSTEN CARBIDE SYSTEM
STOODY’s Mig/Tungsten Carbide System offers
a simple and reliable method of applying cost effective
and extremely wear resistant hardfacing deposits.
This approach allows introduction of granular Tungsten
Carbide into a welded matrix provided by STOODY
hardfacing wires. This method deposits welds which
are sound, and exhibit dense matrix cross-sections,
filled with Tungsten Carbide particles.
This “MAXIMUM MATRIX” provides excellent resistance
to extreme abrasive environments encountered in many
industrial operations.
The System can be used in a semi-automatic hand
held mode, or set up for automatic function in high
production applications.

THE SYSTEM
NOZZLE ATTACHMENTS
The System includes the following components:
1) Heavy construction, resonance dampened, linear
mode vibratory motor, bulk hopper, brackets and
metering system.
2) Line connection, 115 volt, 1 amp fused, ground fault
neutral prong plug, current sensing relay, and weld
cable mounting block for auto start/stop function.
3) MIG gun nozzle attachment bracket, clamp, carbide
delivery hose and drop tube.
4) Full function remote control pendant with on/off
indicator light, auto-manual mode switch, carbide
feed rate potentiometer, and panel fuse.

CRUSHED SINTERED TUNGSTEN CARBIDE
The Maximum Matrix System permits:
Tough, sintered matrix, bonded with cobalt to allow
resistance to higher impact loadings, while still
providing excellent abrasion resistance.
• Selection of the optimum tungsten carbide type,
shape and particle mesh size
TUNGSTEN CARBIDE PELLETS
Toughness of cobalt bonded matrix with excellent
impact resistance, spherical shape and low rates of
cutting action verses angular shape carbides (sliding
wear vs. cutting functions).
• Selection of a high performance matrix
supporting wire
• Control of the percent of Tungsten Carbide fill in
the matrix
• Weld deposits with low base metal dilution, and
high matrix hardness in a single layer
