Tactical Firmware
Tactical firmware 2.33 supports new default system settings introduced in Cisco TC7.2.x. software for the Cisco
Telepresence SX20 endpoint.
Note: The Tactical firmware and Cisco TC software are 2 different software files and are loaded differently.
New Features Firmware 2.33
Status Message
Press the Call and Mic Mute buttons of the Tactical keypad for 2 seconds to display a system status message. This
contains :
IP address: (Tactical IP address)
Firmware version: (controller of the Tactical)
TC version: (software version of the Cisco SX20)
Factory Defaults
Press and hold the Call, Phone Book, Disconnect, and Selfview buttons of the Tactical key pad for 10 seconds to
display a window to return the system to its factory defaults. If selected this will clear all configuration values. When
the procedure completes, the system will restart and display a message window stating “Factory defaults were
successful loaded.”

Tactical firmware 2.33 implements several improvements to the user interface.

Upgrade Requirements
The following are what is required to upgrade the Tactical firmware.
•
PC or Laptop with Windows XP/Vista/7/8 (not supported on Apple computers)
•
Straight through Serial cable (DB9 male to DB9 female)
•
Serial to USB cable
a. May require installing drivers for the Serial to USB cable.
b. Serial to USB cable is not required if PC/Laptop has a COM port (DB9)
•
Tactical firmware 2.33 with FlashUpgrader software.
NOTE: The Tactical FlashUpgrader software is not supported on Apple computers.

Firmware Upgrade
The following are the steps to upgrade the Avizia Tactical
firmware.
1. Power off the Tactical by removing the power
cord.
2. Connect serial cable to firmware and diagnostics
port on Tactical.
3. Connect other end of the serial cable to the
PC/Laptop, may require Serial to USB adapter
cable.
a. To find which COM port number the
PC/Laptop has assigned the serial port:
i. Open <Control Panel>.
ii. Select <System>.
iii. Select <Device Manager> in the
upper left hand corner.
iv. Click on the <Ports (COM & LPT)>.
v. The com port should be listed as COM1, COM2, or COM3, etc.
4. Download the Tactical firmware 2.33 file from here http://www.avizia.com/support
5. Once downloaded, unzip to a desired location on the PC/Laptop.
6. Open Tactical firmware folder and double click
on FlashUpgrader.exe. FlashUpgrader will
automatically point to the correct flash file.
7. Select Serial for Connection setting, even if the
Serial to USB adapter cable is used on the
PC/Laptop.

8. Select the correct COM Port.
9. Set Baud Rate to 115200.
10. Leave other settings to defaults,
a. Options – Check box for “Reset Target
After Download”
b. Modes – “Flash” selected
11. (make sure Tactical is powered off) Click on the
Flash button under “Bytes:” bottom of
FlashUpgrader window:

12. Waiting for target reset… message appears.
13. Power on the Tactical by plugging in the power
cord.
14. The firmware will start upgrading, which takes
about 2-4 minutes to complete.
15. The controller within the Tactical will
automatically restart after the upgrade.
16. Its recommend to power cycle the Tactical to resync the controller and Cisco SX20 endpoint.
17. Firmware upgrade is complete, FlashUpgrader
can be closed.
