FIRST LOOK: HR54 – DirecTV’s 4k Genie

What is the HR54?
The HR54 is DIRECTV’s first and newest 4k Genie. This product builds upon the HR44 model allowing multiple clients to have the
ability to connect to the Genie, watch and record independent shows. The HR54 adds the ability for 4K pass through and linear 4K
with a future software update. Upon launch of linear 4K additional LNB hardware may be required to receive reverse band
frequencies in support of 4K. The HR44 and the HR54 are virtually identical in many ways with a few hardware changes


The first noticeable difference between the HR44 and the HR54
is the front panel buttons have been removed for a single power
on / off button. Press the DIRECTV logo to power the unit on
and off.


The access card is now on the right side of the unit along with the red button for rebooting the unit. This is similar to other models.


The DIN output allows for composite and component outputs via optional DIN cable. This
unit has no built in modem or telephone connection. IPPV callbacks are made via the Internet and Internet connectivity will be
required to order pay per view. The caller ID function is no longer supported. Internal hardware is virtually identical to the HR44
and no increased speed or hard drive storage space.
