The Hiawatha belt was a lot of work to make but it was the most important made belt. The Hiawatha belt is shown the 7ive nations. The Iroquois were the original wampum makers. There were a lot of steps involved before you get a full belt.Not all Hiawatha belts are the sam color but there all the same design Process of Making Wampum
It was a lot of work to make things with wampum. Native Americans have to cut shells, string the shells. Bring the wampum to tribes near the Great Lakes to put it together.
The Onondaga tribe would store the wampum. Wampum was used for different reasons. Different thing take different a mount of time like the snapping turtle rattle for ceremonies belts hair extensions and other things.
Talking and Getting Ideas for Making Wampum
The Native Americans made things from wampum they get there ideas from imagination and surroundings. The Native Americans didn’t have letters so they used pictures with wampum.
The Lenape tribe is known for their beadwork. Wampum and tobacco were used for the same reason sometimes for letters and talking just like wampum.

Every belt tells a story but not the same story every belt means something different Wampum can be used to make very different thing Native Americans used wampum to make earrings.
Color
The purple wampum is more rare then the white wampum. Native America gets the color of from natural shells and materials around them. Native Americans use a carveard and a grindstone for making holes and its shape. Promise and Trust People gave wampum when promises were made. Native Americans do that for they don’t break a promise with someone.
The Iroquois 7lag is a wampum design instead of making a whole other design for the Iroquois 7lag. The Iroquois decided to use a special belt to every body likes. The Iroquois 7lag doesn’t mean any thing different it’s just their 7lag. Each wampum pattern represents a person a nation a story or a story
