1. Movie Review – Oliver Twist – BBC 2007 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldqXZjCsr0A
As a movie critic who has just watched the movie, you are writing a review where you determine whether or not
the movie was an accurate portrayal of the times during the industrial revolution or whether they exaggerated
the scenes to make it more dramatic than it really was back then. Write a 1 page, single-spaced, 12 font
newspaper movie review focusing on the setting, working conditions, laws, social structure, health conditions,
Child Labor, Crime, Role of Women, education. Your notes from the movie should help you write about these
areas. You can have one small image total in your review.

single spaced, 12 font, Times New Roman
One small image for each of the different areas of impact that you discuss.
Discuss how the Industrial Revolution will impact society. Look at this as if you are a writer during the Industrial
Revolution making predictions as to how this big shift (going from in essence an agrarian/rural lifestyle to an
urban industrial/modern one) will impact people from here on out. Discuss:






environmental impacts (google search: “environmental impact of the industrial revolution”)
social impacts and reforms (internet and textbook 304-306)
economic impacts (internet and textbook 299)
New Philosophies on government (textbook 300-304)
urban development impacts (textbook 289-291-, 293)
etc.
HINT: You will need to use the internet to research the "possible" effects the Industrial Revolution will have in
the future. I say possible because you are writing this as if you are living back during the industrial revolution
and you don't know yet how all of this will turn out. However, since we really are living in the "future" and you
can look up the impacts of the industrial revolution on the internet and find out. So, look up the effects, read
about them, and write about them as if you are predicting that they might occur in the future sometime.

4. Future Forecast
Which jobs will be replaced by technology today? Industrialization still occurs today. We make newer and
better machines all of the time. Think of autonomous, self-driving cars. Will they replace taxi drivers? Uber is
already rolling out some of these vehicles. What will happen to all of those people who work as taxi drivers and
Uber or Lyft drivers? This one page newspaper article should focus on 5 jobs in the future that might be
replaced by technology.
Using the same format as your editorial page, write this article for your Industrial Revolution Newspaper.
