Those operators with HDS200 HybriDrive propulsion systems currently in service will find it easy to maintain and service HDS300 due to its similar hardware and software. By utilizing the full power of Cummins ISL 330 hp engine, the HDS300 provides the torque and power required for a 63,000 lb. artic bus to sustain vehicle speeds up to 65 mph with superior acceleration. The upgraded traction motor increases HDS300’s peak output torque capability to 4790 ft-lbs (6500Nm) making it easy to climb steep hills. Limited EV mobility is available with HybriDrive series propulsion (HDS300). Depot Drive enables bus operators to enter or depart the bus depot without the engine running for short distance travel. (Range <500 yards at speeds < 10 mph). Travelling through the depot on electric power helps air quality, and allows transit agencies to decrease their facilities’ heating and air conditioning budget and keeps the air clean for their employees. Stop/Start mode will be available soon on the HDS300 system to match the HDS200 systems' full EV mobility. Stop/Start technology allows engine shut-off at stops to prevent idling with no loss of passenger comfort or bus operator control. All bus electric accessories remain operating off of battery power provided by HybriDrive Series-E.
