2 1 44 3 5 6 7 Traffic switch to temporarily realign Kessels Road westbound traffic to the north To accommodate further upgrade works on the southern side of Kessels Road, the project will implement a traffic switch
to temporarily realign Kessels Road westbound traffic to the north between Benaud Street and Grout Street.
The traffic switch will see westbound traffic on Kessels Road between Springfield Street and Grout Street temporarily
moved onto the new northern half of the Mimosa Creek Bridge. Following the implementation of the switch, both east and
westbound traffic lanes on Kessels Road will be on the new northern half of the Mimosa Creek Bridge. The old Mimosa
Creek Bridge will then be demolished to facilitate construction of the new southern half of the bridge.
Lane closures and traffic control will be in place on Kessels Road between MacGregor Street and Mains Road from
8pm Wednesday 4 September 2013 to 5am Thursday 5 September 2013 to facilitate these changes (weather and
construction conditions permitting).
During these lane closures, Grout Street and Springfield Street will be accessible via left in/left out only, with u-turn
facilities provided at the MacGregor Street and Mains Road intersections.
Traffic control and signage will be in place during these works to guide road users along the newly aligned works.
Every reasonable effort will be made to minimise disruptions to residents and businesses, however, there will be some
traffic delays, noise, dust, flashing lights and lighting towers associated with the construction activities. Motorists are
advised to drive carefully, follow the road signage in place and allow extra time to complete your journey.
Temporary pedestrian diversion on Kessels Road south side To facilitate the bridge construction works, pedestrian access on the southern side of Kessels Road between Grout Street
and Springfield Street will be temporarily diverted to the northern side of Kessels Road from Thursday 5 September 2013.
The diversion will be in place for the next few months while the second half of the Mimosa Creek Bridge is constructed.
Safety is a project priority and pedestrians are asked to follow the signage in place.
