Prairie Valley School Division offers a French Immersion
program from Kindergarten to Grade 4 at École White City
School. Each year the program expands by one grade level
until the program is offered to students in Kindergarten to
Grade 8.
There are many great reasons to have your child attend the
immersion program at École White City School.

at any grade level?
It is anticipated that the he program will expand in the
following way for each of the upcoming school years:
2014-2015
2015-2016
2016-2017
2017-2018
Kindergarten - Grade 5
Kindergarten - Grade 6
Kindergarten - Grade 7
Kindergarten - Grade 8
Elementary aged students from White City, Emerald Park,
Pilot Butte, Balgonie, Edenwold, Mclean and Kronau can
attend the French Immersion program at École White City
School. Transportation is provided.

ENHANCED COGNITIVE AND INTELLECTUAL ABILITIES
Numerous reports have shown that French as a second
language education does not diminish math or Englishlanguage skills. In fact, studies suggest that learning a second
language can enhance cognitive and intellectual abilities.

Students with two languages are better able to communicate
their thoughts and understand and respond to the needs of
others. Their exposure to another culture makes them more
respectful of differences.

No special skills are required. Children with all types of

Parents/Guardians who want their child(ren) to enter the
French Immersion program at École White City School
should contact the school directly.
It is possible to enter the program at any grade level,
however, a late grade entry may make the transition
challenging from an English to French program. The school
principal and/or vice-principal will discuss the program in
detail with the child and family before registration occurs.
2. Is it easy to transfer my child(ren) out of the program if it
is not a good fit?
Yes, parents/guardians who want to transfer their child(ren)
out of the French Immersion program at École White City
School should make the request to the school principal and/
or vice-principal.
