Clubs/Activities available to freshmen:
Ambassadors (Jenny Koerner) – Membership open to those students 9-12 who wish to be a
student representative of CHS at Guidance functions such as Open House, Financial Aid Night, and
College Fair. May help provide tours for new students and parents. Members will also engage in
social games/activities with Special Needs students.
Chargers Fighting Cancer (Teri Delagrange/Diane McKee) – A service minded club that will focus
on increasing their level of awareness about breast cancer risks. In addition, they will raise funds to
help fight this disease through research, advocacy, education, and service.
Chess/Go Club (Laura Semba) – Two games will be played; GO is a Japanese strategy type game.
Students interested in chess may challenge each other or teach each other to play.
Club Charla (Amy Cox/ Amy Selman) – Kids get together to practice Spanish – no lesson plan, no
grading, no pressure. For upper level Spanish students.
Drama Club (Steve Pearson) – Drama Club provides opportunity for students to be a part of school
stage productions as both actors and crew. Working backstage, building sets, managing props,
aiding actors and acting are all elements of the Drama Club.
FCA (Steve Lubbehusen/Dave Ginder/David Brooks/Bonnie Johnson) – “Fellowship of Christian
Athletes” learn about and explore Christianity. Open to anyone – do not have to be in a sport at
CHS. Also sponsors activities out of school, (ie: cookouts), evening meetings once a month, weekly
Bible study meetings on Tuesday mornings.
FCCLA (Renee Sigmon) – “Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America” is a community
service organization but also participates in competitive events. Some projects include serving
meals to senior citizens, visiting Alzheimer’s patients, working with elementary students and
collecting money for various charities.
FFA (Cindy Raker/Tyler Olinske) – Members gain knowledge in agriculture, leadership,
sportsmanship, and the environments. Students do not have to have a background in Ag to
participate.
French Club (Lindsey Ravis) – Learn about everything French. Need to be in French Class
GSA (Amy Cox) - GSA, the gay straight alliance, is a student lead organization that is intended to
provide a safe environment for LGBTQ youth and their straight allies. As a club we participate in a
variety of activities such as Day of Silence, National Coming Out day, Ally Week, No-name calling
day, and more. During the club we discuss current issues that affect our students, and the
community. Our goal is to show support to students in the club and the school community as a
whole. Open to all students in grades 10-12 (and interested freshman). Interested students should
sign up prior to first meeting by seeing Ms. Cox in room 157
Interact Club (Katie Kelly/Alicia Weimer) –The purpose of the Carroll Interact Club is to foster
leadership skills for the betterment of the Fort Wayne Community. Interact is an extension of the
Anthony Wayne Rotarian Organization sponsored service club dedicated to organizing and leading
the student body in community-centered projects and fundraisers.
Japanese Club (Laura Semba) – Open to any student interested in the culture of Japan. Does not
have to be enrolled in Japanese class.
Multicultural Club (Jenn Ndlovu) - The multi-cultural club will explore different cultures. We will
explore a different culture each month. We will listen to music, taste the food of different nations and
learn about customs/traditions in a variety of cultures.
Neon Nation (Matt Taylor/Jordan Rhodes) – Neon Nation is for anyone in grades 9-12 interested in
participating in our historic student section. Those on the leadership team brainstorm ideas, plan
events such as football tailgates or “Black Out” games, discuss designs for next year’s Neon Nation
shirts, and get Neon Nation's “insider” information. This club does not meet on the normal club
rotation, so be on the lookout for when you can participate!
RAKtivist (Carrie Wisehart) -RAK stands for Random Acts of Kindness. An activist is a vigorous
advocate for a cause. HENCE: RAKtivist. At Carroll High School, RAKtivists will meet to do acts of
kindness that will promote a positive environment at Carroll High School. It is open to all students, 912, and will meet in the Fieldhouse or Mrs. Wisehart’s room.
Still Frame Society (Nicole Croy) – Must be currently in Photography class or have already taken a
Photography class with Mrs. Croy. This is a gathering of liked-minded people who share a passion
for photography.
FRESHMAN ONLY CLUBS:
Basketball Knockout Club (Zach England) – Basketball, one line, two balls. First person shorts, if
second person makes the shot before 1st makes it they are out, etc. Open only to the first 15
freshmen who sign up.
CFC Newcomers Club (Janet Crawford/Jenny Koerner) – The group meets during first semester
only and it open to 9th grade students who are new to NACS. We discuss the difficulties with starting
at a new school, how to make friends, academic expectations at CHS, how to navigate high school
in general.
Coloring Club (Jodi Heeter) – Coloring at your leisure with crayons and colored pencils. Pages will
be judged for prizes.
Board Game Club (Helen Brubaker) – Visit with fellow ninth-grade students while learning to play
new games. Many options available from cards to outburst to Blokus.
Euchre Club (Kyan Yauchler) – Play or learn to play the card game Euchre
Speech/Debate (Michael Schaffner / Meghan Stetter) –There is also a "freshmen-only" meeting
which takes place in the A18 at the Freshman Center. We discuss practice schedules, upcoming
meets, fundraising, and other items pertaining to the team. Anyone who would like to consider being
on the team is welcome to attend.
Student Council (Rebecca Perkins) – Freshmen Student Council provides ninth graders with the
opportunity to lead and plan events within CFC. We plan semi-formal, we raise money for different
charities, we sponsor different events in CFC, and we donate money to people in need.
Spikeball Club (Matt Taylor) – Sign up and play Spikeball.
