This is the story of how we got our kittens Misty and Tiger. First, we talked about getting more cats (we already had one cat that is named Goober). We decided it was feasible to acquire at least one more cat, so our mom meticulously searched for kittens on sale online, and we found four kittens for sale in Franktown. In early December 2010 our mother, my sister Seriah, my brothers Noah and Eyan, our aunt Holley and I drove to Franktown, and found the house belonging to the person selling the kittens. The kitten’s owner was expecting us, and she showed us in to the untidy shed where the four kittens were living at that time. Inside the shed, there were four kittens: one of them was an orange and white tabby boy; one of them was a male dark brown and black tabby, and the other two cats were gray females. Both of the gray kittens had some faint darker gray tabby stripes, but one of them had less stripes. All four of the kittens were about eight weeks old. The owner of the kittens told us that the brown and black tabby and the gray female with fewer stripes were more friendly to people. The mother of the kittens, a pretty black, white, and orange tortoiseshell cat, was also inside the shed, but left when we entered. Inside the shed, the brown and black tabby cat came to scrutinize us, and quickly ascertained that we were not jeopardy, but his sisters and brother hung back warily. The lesser striped gray kitten hid from us until her owner picked her up and handed her to my sister Seriah. Terrified, the kitten scratched Seriah on the cheek! Seriah dropped her on the floor and the kitten ran away. While we were in the shed, I tried to coerce the more striped gray kitten to come out of hiding, but the orange and white male kitten was unwilling to come anywhere near us. We decided to buy the lesser striped gray and the brown and black tabby cats, so their owner sold them to us for fifteen dollars each. We put the two kittens in our cat carrier and put the cat carrier in the car. Then we drove away. On the way home, we discussed names for the kittens; our mom suggested Tiger for the name of the boy cat and Noah and Eyan agreed. Seriah suggested Smokey, but I thought Misty would be better, and Seriah decided that that would be all right with her. After we drove back to our house in Aurora, we took the cat carrier out of our car and brought the kittens into our house. We put Misty and Tiger in our downstairs bathroom, with a food dish, a full water dish, and a litter box, until they got more used to living with us. After they got used to being in the bathroom, Misty and Tiger began to explore the bathroom by jumping up on the toilet and counter. At first, our other cat, Goober, sniffed at the base of the bathroom door and growled when he smelled Misty and Tiger, but he got used to them and now he does not mind them at all. Now Misty and Tiger are three years old and we have moved three times since we bought them. But I am sure that they have not forgotten the day when we bought them. Reply to: [email protected]
