The Emperor’s New Clothes Rationale: The Emperor’s not happy he has just been tricked and paraded naked down the street! He needs the children’s help for next year's Royal Procession to design and make him a more suitable outfit. He wants the children to put on an art exhibition for him with their ideas. Art English Construct/de-construct fabrics to explore their properties. Appreciate that fabrics & threads can be altered through the process of dyeing. Know that sewing is the main method of joining 2 pieces of fabric together that this skill can be used to add pattern/texture to fabric for different purposes. Accuracy & dexterity with needle & thread. Self evaluations show progression in confidence and skills awareness: e.g. “I can thread a needle without help “, “ I have improved my collage by ..” Greater control and risk taking over mediums used resulting in confident & reflective self evaluation either verbally or written in sketchbooks.
