FOUNDER - CHANCELLOR
Dear Students,
As the Chancellor of Bharati Vidyapeeth University I extend a very warm welcome to the students who are desirous
of seeking admissions in our different constituent units.
Bharati Vidyapeeth, the parent organization of this University is celebrating this year as its Golden Jubilee Year. At
this moment my mind goes back over a period of five decades. Bharati Vidyapeeth initiated its academic journey
with a single school. Now it is one of the premier educational institutions in the country, having under its umbrella
more that 180 educational units including 80 colleges of 12 faculties. They include colleges of Medicine, Dentistry,
Engineering, Pharmacy, Hotel Management and the like. There may not be any disciplines either conventional or
emerging for which Bharati Vidyapeeth has not established its institution.
Within a short period of 19 years or so, Bharati Vidyapeeth University has established its academic reputation even
across the national borders. Its high level of academic excellence is underscored by the fact that the Ministry of
Human Resource Development, Government of India has given 'A' grade status to this University. The University's
another remarkable achievement is that it has been awarded a prestigious 'A' grade by the NAAC both in its first
accreditation and also in reaccreditation. An approval by the UGC under Section 12B of its Act which our University
has received by another feather in the cap of the University.
We at this University are committed to make available to our students a wide spectrum of academic options to choose
from.
It has also been our endeavour to provide continuously updated education in a congenial environment to our
students. I am very happy that a very large number of our past students have established their reputation as medical
practitioners, engineers, pharmacists, industrialists and the like not only at the national level but also at the
international level. Research is a focal area of activities of our University. We have three Research Institutes as
constituent units of University. They are doing remarkable work. However, our aim is to develop this University as a
Research University.
I again welcome all of you and wish you a very successful academic career as students of this University.
Dr. Patangrao Kadam

Control Board and State Forest Department, formal organizations involved in governance and remediation.
Diploma in Sustainable Development
With the huge emphasis on sustainable development globally, the Government is now expecting the industry
,housing urban planning and other sectors to go green, While bringing this about there is no expertise within the
country with a clear understanding of issues that are related to the international "Millennium Development Goals"
or the effects of "climate change" and technologies required for mitigation and adaptation to minimise these
untoward effects of unsustainable development. This highly interdisciplinary course addresses this gap
The country’s rapid development in economic terms has led to a variety of side effects that have adversely affected
the quality of life of people.
The ill effects have resulted from growth of the economy without considering societal or environmental issues.
While the Planning Commission in its Five Year Plan supports a new paradigm of sustainable development ,the
expertise required to implement this new thinking which is required in all sectors of society.
There are still no training programs on sustainability primarily because it is highly interdisciplinary and requires
life sciences, pollution technology, social sciences and environmental management which is achieved through this
course.

environment management from the technical as well as the policy aspect to counter the effects of degradation of the
ecosystem
M.Sc. Geoinformatics
Geoinformatics is the synergy of multiple disciplines, namely GIS, remote sensing, photogrammetry, GPS, Information
Technology and geodesty. It is fundamental to all the disciplines which use data identified by their locations. Geomatics
deals with spatial and non-spatial data, their methods of acquisition, management, analysis, display and dissemination.
Applications of geomatics are mainly oriented to real world management problems pertaining to natural and man-made
environments. The M.Sc. in Geoinformatics aims to provide conceptual knowledge on GIS, remote sensing,
photogrammetry, digital image processing, GPS and related fields of information technology, alongwith hands-on
training with various GIS, remote sensing, digital image processing software. A six months project work is also
incorporated in the course. The Institute offers international internships in GIS for selected students. The course contents
have been designed keeping view the emerging trends in the field of Geoinformatics and the increasing needs of skilled
manpower.
SCOPE OF THE COURSE
M.Sc. Environment Science and Technology
Contrary to the popular belief that 'green jobs' exist in specific sectors, green jobs today are found in all sectors as a large
number of industries and organizations have today committed or make commitments to sustainability. The UNEP Report
on green jobs shows that a global transition to a low-carbon and sustainable economy has already created a large numbers
of green jobs across many sectors of the economy, and has indeed become an engine of development. This has led to
changing patterns of investment flows. Employment opportunities exist in diverse fields such as in Government
agencies, industries, in manufacturing, energy, food, recycling, agriculture, business, policy, construction, forestry and
conservation sectors all of which offer immense opportunities to environmental scientists/professionals. The job profiles
in green careers are as diverse as the problems they address. A degree in Environment Science and Technology definitely
sets the pace in building a green career. One can be a researcher, a designer, a planner, an operator of pollution control
