Prior to the social everyone gathered at Garfield's Last Stand for a meeting to recognize the outstanding contributions our outgoing secretary, Mark Irvin has made. Mark has stepped down from his job as secretary due to getting employment abroad. He will be sorely missed. Mark was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation by Chapter President Fred Smith. As the incoming secretary, I can say that Mark is leaving some very big shoes to fill. Mark is an excellent organizer and his accounts of meetings and preparation of our newsletter and the DROP was flawless. I didn't realize how much work this until I started to do it. I'm new at this folks, so bare with me until I get things honed. Mark has been very good to lend a helping hand when I've been stumped - which as been often. Ralph, a previous secretary for our chapter has als offered to help me get my sights bored on this. Thank you Mark for a job well done. Thank you Ralph for the questions you are going to be answering also. Roger wasn’t present to give an update on our boat again this month as he is visiting in the Philippines. There being no other business a motion that the meeting be closed and seconded we all proceeded to the bar for some refreshment. Breakfast was cooked and served by Jenny. along with Bloody Mary’s and/or drinks of choice. The decision was made that we would continue to support the team, but not sponsor due to the possibility of enormous financial responsibilities that might be occurred if such a venture is undertaken. Chapter 46 DLIC Meeting 21 March 2009 .SFA DLIC Meeting was opened at 1200 hrs by Pres Fred Smith. There were 28 members in attendance. The Pledge Allegiance to the Flag of the United States was led by Pres Smith. A moment of silence was observed for fallen and missing comrades and those fighting the war on terrorism. Chris Wilkerson, the medic from 1st Group who we aided with a medcap in Sulu a couple of years ago is back in town and desires to do another one. The last one went very well and many Filipino war veterans who were not recognized by the US Department of VA Affairs were enrolled into the VA system. Considering that most of these veterans are Muslim, this is an excellent civic action project. Chris will gather the information necessary and there will be a discussion as to whether we want to participate in another one. Apologies: Bill Wright, Frank Devlin, Ross Mangan and Charlie Martin. Introduce any guests: There were no guests present, although our man J.O. Dickey was in town and present for the meeting. The minutes of the Feb 2009 meeting is posted in Garfields. The Financial Statement to Mar 2008 is on file with the Pres if anyone needs to see it. NEW BUSINESS: The 4th of July picnic was discussed. President Fred Smith will insure the area is reserved. A committee of volunteers will be formed to work out the finer details. As always it will be pot luck. A roster will be posted for members to write down what they will bring to the picnic. COMMUNICATIONS: Various communications via email were received and passed around for members to read if they wished. A letter was received in reference to ANZAC Day which will be held on Saturday, April 25th at 0700 hrs at the Clark Cemetery. This will be followed by a Gunfire Breakfast at the Swagman Hotel in Diamond Subdivision. Maximum support is encouraged. GOOD OF THE CHAPTER: There was no business discussed under good of the order. The next SFA DLIC Social will be held at Illusions, 4 April 2009 at 1400 hours. Smokey moved that a $20.00 donation be given by the DLIC for this occasion. The motion was carried. There being no further business and it being very hot due to lack of electricity, the meeting was adjourned by Pres. Fred Smith at 1248 hours. OLD/UNFINISHED BUSINESS: The committee for the 2009 PACRIM has been formed. At this point things are moving slowly because we do not know exactly how many people will be coming. Charlie Hoffman has already arranged for the menu which will be a buffet with Fish, Chicken and Pork. More information will be passed on the schedule as soon as becomes available. A decision was made to keep the registration fee to $90.00 per person. At this time the committee is working on arrangements for hotel accommodations, transportation, and the trip to Corregidor, bars that will support our convention, shopping for wives that accompany their spouses and an information packet for the participants and other details. The recommendation was made by Jeff Raker that we make a decision next meeting as to whether the Corregidor trip will be a single day or an overnighter. He suggested that we choose either one or the other to prevent logistical problems. Rick, Charles, Fred and Jeff Everyone must pay the full registration fee. 4 4 The Pugua Wireless Newsletter DLIC Philippines DLIC Meeting Minutes for April 18, 2009. GOOD OF THE CHAPTER: SFA DLIC Meeting was opened at Noon by Pres Smith. There were 23 members in attendance. We had a short discussion in regards to the food for the meetings.
