Re: 98th Annual Rogers County Fair
September will be sizzling at the Claremore Expo Center! The Rogers County Fair is gearing up for a great
98th year September 13-16. A new addition to the Fair this year is Fun Time Shows Carnival! We will have
rides, games, and wonderful fair food. There will be $20 wristband specials Thursday through Saturday 6
to 10 pm and Saturday and Sunday 1 to 5 pm.
Live entertainment will be happening on the Main Stage beginning Thursday evening at 7 pm with Sam
Cox Band, a local group from Tahlequah. On Friday Heath Wright and the Hangmen will be playing
beginning at 7 pm. Heath Wright is from Vian, Oklahoma and is the lead singer for Ricochet and
occasionally fills in as lead singer for Restless Heart. “Heath Wright and the Hangmen” is a regional band
he started that plays classic-style country music throughout Eastern Oklahoma and Western Arkansas.
“I got the opportunity to meet Heath this spring in Oklahoma City and I am excited about this addition to
the Rogers County Fair,” said Lisa Dennis, marketing coordinator. “It’s going to be a great show! Even
better, it’s free for everyone.”
Claremore group Bethany Grace and Gypsy Soul will bring their talents to the Fair Saturday at 5:30 pm.
Bethany McDermed is a life-long Claremore resident who is bringing original music with a soft-medium
rock/blues rock feel to the stage.
Another new partnership that has been made brought the Texaco Country Showdown to Claremore.
This event is the nation’s largest country music talent search. Radio stations throughout Oklahoma are
holding contests to send the best to the Rogers County Fair to compete. The winner of the Oklahoma
Final will then compete at a regional competition with hopes of making it to the National held in
Nashville and a chance at $100,000.
Activities for the kids are always a big hit and we will be bringing back Goat Roping by Justin Harrell.
Anyone can try their hand at team roping with this fun event on foot. There are practice sessions and
jackpots. We will also have a blacksmith foundry setup with demonstrations- it’s a great opportunity to
see how old-fashioned blacksmithing works! The 4-H Club will again have a Barn Yard area set up inside
the Indoor Arena with a variety of calves, goats, sheep, and other farm animals. All children ages 4-12
are invited to participate in the Pedal Tractor Pull Saturday at 4 pm in front of Expo Hall. Just show up
and register; no fees!
For everyone who likes to shop there will be a variety of unique, handmade items inside the Expo Hall,
as well as home goods exhibits presented by 4-H, FFA, and County residents. Expo Hall will be open
Friday and Saturday 9 am to 10 pm. We still have vendor space available; please contact Lisa for more
information.
A full schedule of events and activities is available on our newly revamped website,
