Dear Parents,
Welcome back as we commence Term Two, I hope that all families enjoyed a
relaxing, happy and holy Easter break. We again have another busy term planned,
please keep your eye on that dates section of the newsletter to make sure you are
informed.
We welcome Miss Ange Schinck onto the staff. Ange will be replacing Mr Greg Illman
in grade 4I until the end of the year. Ange is an experienced teacher who is very
familiar with Trinity. I am sure that she will be made to feel very welcome by all
families. We also welcome back Diana Jans from Long Service Leave and Jamie-Lee
Marsden onto the staff for the next few weeks whilst Andrea Berryman is on Long
Service Leave.
Thanks to all families for accommodating our School Closure Day yesterday. The
day allowed us to commence Catholic School Renewal with key facilitators from the
Catholic Education Office. Throughout the Renewal process we will critically analyse
where we are at as a school, focus on what we do well and areas where we need to
improve. At its conclusion we will establish a strategic plan for the next four years.
Renewal also contains a Victorian Registration and Qualification Authority
component, for this section we have to demonstrate that we have all of the correct
policies and structures in place to remain registered as a school.
As of this term we are adjusting our assembly time to 2.30pm Friday afternoons.
This new time allows for less interruptions to the students middle learning block. For
parents we will open the carpark prior to assembly so that you can park, come in
and join us before taking your children home at the end of the day.
Next Thursday (23rd of April) is our Trinity Athletics Carnival at Casey Fields. We still
require some extra parent helpers on the day, if you can assist could you please let
the Office or Catrina Charman know. A special thanks to Catrina for the organisation
she has put into the Carnival.
Grade 4 Camp is approaching fast (7/8 May) and tonight we have our Camp
Information Meeting for parents at 7pm in the Multi-Purpose Room. Parents of
attending students need to be present at the information evening.
There has been a recent amendment to the Victorian Tobacco act legislating that
there is to be no smoking within four metres of the boundary of a school. I ask that
all families please comply with these amendments as it concerns the health of our
students.
Regards,
Simon Dell'Oro

Celebrate Easter every day at Trinity
We continue to celebrate the love and joy of Easter in the Gospel readings from the
six Sundays of Easter, post Jesus’ resurrection, until the Feast of the Ascension on
the 17th May. As the life, death and resurrection of Jesus are core to our Catholic
faith, we offer the following reflection on the Easter Gospel reading this year, which
talks about how we can find ‘resurrection’ moments each day and continue to live
the joy of Easter.
It was very early on the first day of the week and still dark, when Mary of Magdala
came to the tomb. She saw that the stone had been moved away from the tomb
and came running to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one Jesus loved. ‘They
have taken the Lord out of the tomb, she said ‘and we don’t know where they have
put him.’
So Peter set out with the other disciple to go to the tomb. They ran together, but the other disciple, running
faster than Peter, reached the tomb first; he bent down and saw the linen cloths lying on the ground, but did not
go in. Simon Peter who was following now came up, went right into the tomb, saw the linen cloths on the ground
and also the cloth that had been over his head; this was not with the linen cloths but rolled up in a place by
itself. Then the other disciple who reached the tomb first also went in; he saw and he believed. Till this moment
they had failed to understand the teaching of scripture, that he must rise from the dead.
John 20:1-9
Reflection
There is debate among scripture scholars about who “the disciple Jesus loved”, also called the “other disciple”,
really was. It may have been the apostle John but it is not certain that John was the author of the gospel bearing
his name. Whoever the beloved disciple was, he experienced a moment of profound enlightenment on the
morning of the first Easter Sunday when he entered the empty tomb – “he saw and he believed”.
The disciple did not see Jesus. He saw the empty tomb. When you have loved someone deeply you share in
what happens to them. But in that moment in the empty tomb the darkness of doubt, grief, humiliation, pain
and anguish, the product of the previous days, was illuminated by understanding. Jesus whom he loved was not
a fraud and he had not disappeared into death – he was the Messiah.
There must have been both joy and relief in that moment of illumination. The sense of being alone in a hostile
world vanished. Jesus was still with them.
Joy is the Easter emotion and a gift of the Spirit. We have reason to be joyful on Easter Sunday. The great feast
reminds us that we are not alone because Jesus chose to be part of our lives. We have more than our human
resources to help us in our journey and we are loved beyond any human love.
One group of disciples chose to disparage and ignore the women who told them about meeting Jesus. The two
disciples in this account, Peter and the one Jesus loved, raced to the tomb as soon as they heard what Mary had
to say, and they were among the first to experience the joy of the resurrection.
When we are worrying about something we are uncertain about, the temptation is to lock ourselves up in the
worry, like the disciples in the room. The best way out of worry, doubt and uncertainty is to do what Peter and
the beloved disciple did – seek information. We may find out that our worry is based on a wrong idea,
insufficient information, or something that is not going to happen (there is a reason for the saying “crossing our
bridges before we come to them”). Even if the information confirms our fears it gives us a solid basis for acting,
which can often relieve our worry.
The joy of a burden being lifted from us, a person appearing to help when most needed, the birth of a child, a
moment of illumination, the sense of Christ’s presence – these are all small resurrection moments in our lives.
If we become attuned to them we can live Easter every day, and we can bring that joy to others.

PASTORAL CARE NEWSLETTER
15th APRIL 2015
Welcome back for second term of 2015. I hope you all enjoyed the Easter
ceremonies and an enjoyable and restful holiday with the beautiful Autumn weather
(plus some welcome rain for the gardens). During the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday
night we welcomed Kimberley Rivas (Ricardo 4I, Elias Prep N) and Edit Bencsics
(playgroup Mum) into the Catholic Church. We will pray for you and support you during this
time of great growth for you and your families.
We pray: for Mick Donaldson (Mia1J, Cloe 3S, Max 4N) whose Grandmother died before
the holidays (my apologies, I made a mistake and said it was Jodie’s Grandmother); Naomi
Sanchez (Caileb 1B) who is recovering from surgery.
We congratulate the Scarton and Pahor Families on the engagement between Elio and
Jessica.
MOTHER’S DAY BREAKFAST ON FRIDAY 8TH MAY from 7.15 until
8.15am in the Hall. The Breakfast for the Mums and children (primary
school - aged children only, this is because of the numbers and because
there is not enough room for them to run around in safety) consists of
croissants/toast/coffee (from the Coffee van for Mum) and fruit. So put it in
your diary now please. The enrolment form is in the newsletter. Again I’m looking for
some Dads to serve our gracious mums. So if they can let me know as soon as
possible that they are available that would be terrific – only two dad helpers so
far!!!!!!!!!!
SACRAMENT OF FIRST EUCHARIST: Enrolment and parent-only workshop is Thursday
30th April at 7.45pm in the Parish Church. Remember that this year there is only
ONE such night for this Sacrament.
BIGGEST MORNING TEA Yes it is that time of the year again! Over the
years Trinity has hosted this event in memory of our relatives and friends
who have died from cancer. We hope that the funds we raise will help in
the research and alleviation of this evil disease. The Date is 28th May
from drop off time until 10.30am This year I have booked the Hall
because we were squashed last year in the Playroom. $2.00 entry, and we will
have a raffle (50c a ticket) and there will be a table of goodies for you to
purchase. Can we beat our $150.00 from last year?
This weekend we celebrate the third Sunday in the Easter Season. The Gospel continues on
from the Walk to Emmaus, Jesus appears among them and shows them he is not a ghost
by asking for something to eat. Jesus you ask for food .How often do our children
come in from school and say “ I’m hungry”. And what do you as good
parents do? Usually something small at this time of the day so they will
not spoil the evening meal. Jesus, help us also to feed our children with
the example of celebrating our Faith with the Parish community on the
weekend. Amen
MOTHER’S Day BREakfaST
Friday 8TH MAY commencing at 7.30am

The Trolls Inside
Trolls are part of ancient Nordic culture. They inhabit the world of
folk and fairy tales. Trolls lived under bridges and in dark places.
Short, hairy and ugly trolls were rarely seen however just the
thought of them was enough to send shivers down the spine. As a
kid you had to be wary of trolls.
Now the worst trolls live inside children's heads. The voice of
insecurity, self doubt and fear is the worst troll of all. This is the troll
that kids have to be most vigilant about.
It's the job of parents to help kids defeat trolls. Kids need to face them to defeat them. That's
not easy.
Don't let them feed the troll with doubt and negative self-talk.
Don't let them be trapped by the troll. Inaction through fear is what a troll loves.
Help kids be brave and tackle their fears rather than be held back by the troll inside their
heads.
Action is the troll's worst enemy. It hates kids tackling their fears.
Help them be brave. Help them feign confidence. Help them do.
That's how they will defeat the troll inside their heads.
Michael Grose18 March
