Communication Studies Financial Aid Application
Application Directions
In our efforts to recognize and reward exemplary Communication Studies students, we are offering five (5)
financial awards for the upcoming academic year. We invite students who fulfill the below criteria to apply:
ü Have completed by the end of the Spring 2017 semester the following courses:
CN101, CN150 and six (6) additional credit hours of Communication courses
ü Have declared Communication Studies as your major or minor
Scholarships (minimum 3.0 GPA Overall and in CN is required):

Toni McCorkill Boyles Communication Scholarship = $1,500 one year award
•
Meredith A. Moore Communication Award Scholarship = $1,000 one year award
Fellowships (you should emphasize work ethic, outside activities/work, or other factors that make
you deserving of financial assistance in your application materials):
•
Helen L. Peterson Memorial Fellowship = $1,500 one year award
•
Jeanette T. Dandridge Communication Fellowship = $1000 one year award
•
Charles A. Fulcher Memorial Fellowship = $500 one year award
If you meet the criteria in either or both of the areas listed above and are interested in applying,
complete and submit the following two (2) components to be considered for CN financial aid:
□ Complete and submit the attached application form
□ Submit an essay that is typed, double-spaced, and no longer than 500 words answering the following question:
How will your studies in the field of Communication Studies prepare you for your chosen career?
You may be awarded funds if you are either part-time or full-time, at Washburn University. You may also
apply for financial awards if you are graduating in December 2017.
All of these materials should be turned in to the Communication Studies
Department no later than 5:00pm on Wednesday, February 1, 2017
Applications that are incomplete will not be considered.
