TECHNICAL COMPETITION
The AMUG Technical Competition provides a forum for users of additive
manufacturing (AM) technologies to display their unique applications and
finishing capabilities.

As part of the AMUGexpo, users may submit entries in the Advanced
Concepts or the Advanced Finishing categories. Each category is open to
those with any AM technology, and a winner and runner-up will be selected
from each. The same entry may not be submitted in both categories.
CATEGORIES
ADVANCED CONCEPTS
The Advanced Concepts category aims to recognize
individuals and their companies for exemplary work
utilizing additive manufacturing processes.
Entries in this category will “push the envelope” for a
particular technology or a combination of technologies.
Unique applications, processes, and/or utilizations are
desired in this category.

ADVANCED FINISHING
The Advanced Finishing category recognizes the efforts of
whom we often overlook when evaluating a model.
The designers and engineers may hatch a concept, but
it is often the parts finishers, model makers, painters,
and others that bring a prototype or part to life. Unique
finishing techniques for appearance and performance are
desired.
JUDGING
A panel of judges made up of five (5) “DINO Award”
recipeints (DINO - Distinguished INnovator Operator), will
be selected from those attending the AMUG conference.
To help the judges select the award winners, entrants must
provide complete documentation describing how the entry
meets the above criteria. A title and description of the
part(s) must also be included. Be specific and detailed as
possible.

To enter the 2017 AMUG Technical Competition, you must provide the following:
1. Completed application form
2. Completed documentation form (next page)
• Title of entry
• Overview/description of your project
• Description of how your project meets the criteria
3. Deliver AM part(s) for display at the AMUGexpo. Parts should be hand-carried or shipped (to your
attention) to the hotel prior to the Technical Competition. Please bring your parts to the AMUGexpo
hall by 5:00pm, Monday, March 19, 2017, for display and judging. To permit ample time for judging and
photography of the Technical Competition entries, all parts in the competition must remain available
through Tuesday evening. As an AMUG Conference attendee, we request that you be present at
the AMUG Awards Banquet Tuesday evening. Winners will be announced at the Awards and Dinner
Banquet on Tuesday evening.
