Fundango Program – Blue Squares Group Leader

Must attend all scheduled Fundango events and staff
meetings through the year.
$10 an hour
Mission: Kids at Hearts supports foster, adoptive, and kinship families.
Summary: Group Leaders serve as the primary caregivers for the children participating with Fundango. Group
Leaders lead groups of 6-12 foster, kin, adoptive or biological children through rotations with the assistance of
2-3 volunteers. They will also be responsible for the volunteers assigned to their group. For this particular
position, this group leader will work with children ages 6-8.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Communicate the needs of the children to the Fundango Program Director.
2. Communicate with parents regarding their children focusing on the positive.
3. Attend Fundangos as scheduled.
4. Adhere to agency policies and procedures
5. Provide a safe and positive environment for high needs children to learn and grow within
a. Keep kids on track in a caring way
b. Encourage children to engage with their group members
c. Collaborate with the Fundango Program Director to address any significant discipline issues
6. Provide consistency and foster trusting relationships with the children.
7. Be available and willing to attend trainings as necessary to increase skills.
8. Accompany and monitor children through rotations.
9. Provide consistent and appropriate supervision for volunteers assigned to your group.
10. Provide support and instruction for volunteers who work alongside the group leader during the
Fundango event
Requirements:
1. Must have experience working with children who are 3 and older
2. Must have experience working with high needs children both physical and emotional.
3. Must have positive communication skills.
4. Must have good problem solving skills.
5. Must have the ability to attend the majority of scheduled Fundangos.
6. Must have or attain Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certification.
7. Must be over 18 years old.
